re: The Official TD 2013 NFL Mock Draft [Coleman]

With the 117th Pick in The Official TD 2013 NFL Mock Draft, the Chicago Bears select:
Denard Robinson, WR, Michigan
Is this a shocking pick? Yes. Is this too high? Maybe. But here's my line of thinking:
1) The Bears just hired Marc Trestman
Trestman is a shocking hire himself. He's got gobs of NFL experience but never as HC. He's regarded as QB guru and brought to Chicago to revive the stagnant offense and jump start Cutler's career.
2) The Bears are woeful on offense
They've miscast Devin Hester as a speed WR and it hasn't worked. Marshall is about as good as it comes working the middle and underneath, but not a deep threat. Jeffrey profiles similarly. They need someone to stretch the field. They signed an expensive LT to help up front and a solid TE to help there. But they still need more help.
3) Robinson comes with heavy upside
Robinson was a QB at Michigan, as we all know. But he's also one of the fastest players in this draft class. At the Senior Bowl he didn't perform well in early transition. By the combine he was already markedly better. He's a high character kid with great work ethic. He's a superb athlete. At this point, the Bears feel the athletic reward is worth the risk to add a potential dynamic weapon to their passing game.

Probably too high, but still, I like it. He could be their new Devin Hester. Would he return kicks?

I think so. I've seen a range on him anywhere from 4th round on.
Probably is too high, but he has speed that's hard to ignore. Someone could fall in love.

Kosmo & Bengals on the clock.

If this was 2008 Robinson could be a 2nd/3rd round pick. Back when The Wildcat was all the rage

I will be picking for kosmo soon

The Bengals select....
Travis Kelce, Tight end, Cincinatti
The Bengals add some depth behind Gresham.

The Washington Redskins select....
B.W. Webb, Cornerback, William & Mary
The Redskins continue their effort to rebuild their secondary. They already drafted Blidi Wilson, and now they select another underrated cornerback.

Doing a fourth round was not a good idea.

With the 120th pick the Minnesota Vikings select Landry Jones, QB, Oklahoma
Jones is a big QB who has shown flashes of great play, whether or not he can put it together with NFL coaching is the question. Jones won't come in and start right away but could challenge Ponder in the near future. This is a very low risk high reward pick for the Vikings because the talent is there. And remember as a 4-5 rd QB they aren't asking him to be elite(yet) just better than Ponder
