people are way too caught up on positions.
its not what davis/noel look like now, but where they will be in 2 or 3 years when the team competes for more than just a playoff spot
if they get noel, I will be thrilled

Dirk couldn't win till Chandler got there. Dirk was obviously the best player but Chandler made the team go
And obviously I mean EG, Davis and Ryno.

...having young, twin towers like that is very intriguing to me. I was hoping for Drummond last season for this reason.
Having a couple of great bigs automatically makes you better than a large portion of the teams in the NBA (Memphis, etc.)
I'm not gonna think about it too much, because we probably won't get a chance to pick Noel. Also, I think the team will be looking elsewhere--perimeter D players...but I won't be mad if we end up with Davis/Noel-UK-Department of Defense twin towers down low.

1) Best Player in country B4 ACL 2) The draft is a long term selection not an overnight move. 3) The team he played on was not the same team that won the Championship. 4) Noel & AD could be the best Frontline in a few years
5) If Noel didn't get hurt, Kentucky would have most likely made the tournament.

All Noel would need to do is catch oops and score on put backs. In theory, we will have a solid offensive team around him w EG, Gordon, and Ryno.
Plus Davis is getting more comfortable with his jumper. Monty said he was going to focus on strength and the jumper this offseason, so I wouldn't be surprised if AD is helping spread the floor next season. We'll have money enough to upgrade at the SF, and whomever we bring in there will certainly have better offensive game than Aminu. Right now we're middle of the pack in terms of offensive efficiency, but right at the bottom defensively. Noel would go a long way to fixing that.

i hate the argument that Noels and Davis would be "too skinny".
so freaking dumb.
Agreed.

good luck having 2 post players to guard both these guys on offense.
Technically you really wouldn't have to guard Noel that much since he has no real offensive game.
I think Noel is a big with a defensive skill set. Similar to a Dwight Howard type player. If you remember, people had similar concerns about Dwight and some wanted to take Okafor over him. I think Noel is the same type of guy, except there is now a legit worry about the knee.

He's not as bad as people make him out to be on offense. He's not someone you can totally just ignore.
mainly you'd have to account for him on the offensive boards. I can see him keeping many plays away. Gets buckets on put backs, alley oops, etc. until his game is fully developed. He reminds me more of Jermaine O'Neal

Upgrading Aminu's offense could hurt our defense, unfortunately. Something to consider.

Interesting things I saw in that picture:
1. Anthony Davis has much wider shoulders and it looks like he has to frame to out on more weight easier than Noel
2. Ad seems to have much longer arms

So after reading this thread, is the board firmly on the Noel bandwagon now?

Good points.
I still think Noel is a better shot blocker than AD...slightly. However, AD is more versatile and block shots from the the perimeter.
Noel and AD would make a good duo.....if they both put on weight.
Kind of a Robinson (Noel)/Duncan (AD) type duo on the defensive end.
Note: I said DEFENSIVELY. I dont think either would be as dominant as those guys on the offensive end. HOwever, Robinson was scoring just 15 (he was older than) when playing with Duncan for the most part.
If Noel can be a 15pt 10bd 3blk player at his peak....you'd take it.
Hopefully AD becomes a 20/10 type of player.

How in the frick can you say this?

I think AD will have an extremely dynamic offensive game in time. He is actually better offensively already than I expected him to be this early on. With minutes he produces, the guy is just extremely versatile and just now scratching the surface. I think the kid will be unreal given time and added weight.

That is probably the most accurate best care senario for these two I've seen. I think Noel is pretty guaranteed to have a serious impact on defense in his career which in this draft, guarantees are hard to come by.

I don't see it.

yep...he averages 13.2 PPG and 8 RPG in bullshite minutes (thanks, Monty).
He's already a 15 and 10 player easy, and will exceed that quickly.
