re: Anthony Jennings playing this year? (a discussion, not a news story)

Being here now increases his chances. Being what I've seen from Rivers at numerous practices and scrimmages increases them even more.

Little Nicky Red Devil says bring Jennings on. We'll shut him down just like the "Dual Threat" wonder that Notre Dame threw at us. We shut the run down and made him HAVE to throw the ball. Game was over when he couldn't adequately throw it.
Hey, what's Cam Cameron have to say about JenSwag?
Is he going to be another Antwaan Randle El or the next great high school quarterback that eventually winds up playing wide receiver at LSU because he can't handle the "PASSING" part of the offense Cam Cameron wants to run?
what a load of ignorant drivel...

to be quite hoest, Mett was a "let down" last year, play calling problems or not. If AJ's better, let the kid play.
Speaking of ignorant drivel.

I said this kid could be a special QB the kind to win a NC with. But with Miles in control of this team hating seeing him come to LSU knowing they would waste his talents and leave him frustrated as other talented players.

Has this thread turned into a complete meltdown yet?

Yep.
And he's super accurate, has great pocket presence, quick feet, and seems very polished with his throwing motion. I was always impressed with his HS highlights how well he keeps his eyes downfield when the pocket is collapsing and he is shifting around. The best in the business at that is Brees.
ETA:
Rivers seems to not throw the ball consistently and his throwing motion is like his brothers without the zip.

I'd still like to see him come in during the 3rd or 4th qtr against cupcakes.

Can't wait to see Jennings on the field. Best qb recruit lsu has signed since JR.

So much stupid in one post. Notre Dame was completely overrated and it showed. Gholsen and AJ are 2 different types of QBs. Why is it that all of a sudden every black QB with mobility = RS or Randall? AJ is more like Teddy Bridgewater (Pass first, run as a last resort) and we all saw what he did the Florida defense. He's accurate and makes smart decisions with the ball.

Cant wait to see both AJ and HR on the field.
Best qb recruits LSU has signed since FOR-EVERRRRRRRR

Yep.
He is a pocket passer with a very accurate arm and a VERY fast release. He isn't even THAT fast. He is quick and can shift around a folding pocket well though.
Seriously, I think his game is similar to Drew Brees'. Obviously not that good, BUT think about it:
-Short (relatively)
-Athletic
-Quick feet
-Very accurate
-Lightning release
-Not the strongest arm, but not weak either
-Moves well in and out of pocket when it changes
-Keeps eyes downfield at all times
Kid is going to be good. Hopefully he is 1/3 the QB Brees is

I think everyone needs to pump the breaks a bit.
He'll likely see some playing time, but I have no interest in seeing him start this year. Start the 4th quarter maybe.
Mett is still a growing QB, if we are going to be successful this season we need him to continue to evolve as a passer throughout the season. In order for him to do that he will need to play late in games, even against cupcakes. When we are up by 28pts in the third or early in the 4th it opens up an opportunity for you to run plays that are more about testing his abilities than trying to win. The risk is lower.
Also, why in the hell are we using Drew Brees, NFL veteran, Super Bowl Champion, record holding QB to a fricking true freshman.

I just hope Mett will step up this year. Rivers is the real thing but won't get a chance with Mett a senior! I agree with TIGHLEE.

B/c people on this board are stupid.
Every player LSU signs has the ability to be special.
They measure out right, they are fast.
They are quick, They have good arms and can play.
They are the best player on the high school field 99.9% of the time.
Only problem is when they go from BFE H.S. in BFE La, to the SEC and LSU, everybody is that good.
These boy-man crushes some of these people on this site get on freshman football players who still prob have their high shcool tassel hanging on their rear view mirror is frickING CREEPY.
Geees, let the young players ease into their roles and actually prove something on the field first.

Oh my god yes it does.
You can compare styles of play to someone that everyone recognizes. They have similar builds and basic skillsets. Who are you supposed to compare players to?
I would say Mett is similar to Flacco (not because of Cameron). He is tall, big, not that mobile, has a very strong arm, but makes questionable decisions sometimes. (yes I know Flacco just played lights out, but before that he made questionable choices)
I made it clear I wasn't saying he was that good. I fricking hate you people.

I never said he would be that good. I just compared their base skillsets and size. WHAT THE frick PEOPLE.

I'd compare him more to a Russell Wilson college-type QB. He has the ability to run the option from time to time. But, he's a pro-style passer.
