Should the NBA have a Closely Guarded Rule?

Not even sure if the NCAA has this rule anymore. Doesn't have to be 5 seconds but something to keep the game from bogging down.

Yes. It slows the game down to have players hang on to the ball, which is something I thought the NBA wanted to prevent?

24 sec shot clock, who cares about a closely guarded rule?

Really.
5 sec holding the ball.
Reset after dribble starts so another 5 sec.
And they have a 5 sec back down below free throw line already so no need for something else.
