No way in hell it's going to be dry enough to till Friday. We got another couple inches coming.

Has anyone been up to the BR farmers market recently?
I was there a couple of weeks ago. Selection was okay but nothing special. I like to make the rounds at Louisiana Nursey (Coursey) and Cleggs (Siegen). Between the two I usually find everything I need. Louisiana Nursey had sugar snap peas and spaghetti squash. It was the only place I could find those two.
I also got a nice loquat tree for 20% off.

I know a couple cattle ranchers that use it. If they have some left in the spring I go get one.

I just want these messicans to come rip out these bushes so I can start on my garden.

A couple of years ago there was a guy selling Green Zebra, Black Prince, and several other unusual tomatoes. I need some more green zebras.

I never have much success with the heirloom or exotic type tomatoes. I don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong.

I think our climate is just a bit too hot and tropicalish for them. I was having troubles with inconsistent moisture last year.
The green zebras actually did better than any others. The black princes were also tasty, but the dark color did not enjoy the full sun my garden gets.

My daughter planted some bell peppers, maybe two months ago, kept them inside to this point and they are coming along nicely. So far 11 of the 12 made it.
I want to get a bigger box to put them in for outside though.

Definitely consider Clegg's if the farmer's market doesn't have what you're looking for. They have the best selection of tomatoes I've found. All kinds of weird varieties I've never heard of.

Naylors on Old Hammond had all kinds of peppers and tomatoes, no Creoles. Ghost, habanero, Caribbean red, and another doz types. Plants looked great. I miss them being by the house at their old location.

check out Naylor's...always have a good selection of veggies including a large number of tomato varieties (I planted 6 this year). I jumped the gun on peppers and put them in the ground a couple of weeks ago and the cold last week seems to have hit them pretty hard. Cucumbers and beans well on their way and have been harvesting lots of asparagus.
