let's let sexecutioner do it..he seems to know what he's talking about. if it were up to him, the hornets would be out of timeouts by the end of the first quarter

I agree. Benson is a proven winner.
This is hilarious. Him and John Georges are the only people to pour money into the area. Saints fans wanted to burn Benson at the fricking stake for 20 years.
All of sudden they win 1 Super Bowl. 1. Now he's a proven winner. Get the frick out of here.
Benson hired Payton and invested in the team to move it and sell. Just so happened he was forced to stay (PR nightmare). The NOLA community pressured them to stay and every yokel local from Lake Charles to Pascagoula acted like they were their team. Lets just forget how empty Tiger Stadium was in 2005.
He isn't a damn winner, so just cut that shite out like he's damn Bob Kraft.

You really don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. I know you think you do, but you don't.

I bet. I'm waiting for this proven winner crap. Please describe to me a proven winner that tries to hold the state hostage and has provided so much return outside let's say- the past 6 years.

I think Benson has proven to be a good owner in that he isn't meddlesome. He has bet on the wrong people in the past tough but Payton was clearly a good choice and I think part of why Demps and Monty were both given 4 year extensions this year is because they fit into the current Saints culture and he's hoping those kind of values will translate to basketball.

In retrospect, lots of online coaching experts look like idiots for criticizing guys' abilities when they're coaching bad teams.
Think Orlando kind of regrets that Doc Rivers decision?
Shocker that he couldn't turn a team starting Tyronn Lue, Juwon Howard, and Andrew Declerq into champs.
Internet hero, Bill Simmons cried for years to get Rivers fired in Boston, to the point that Ainge almost did it.
For some reason Doc couldn't turn a team starting Ricky Davis and Raef Lafrentz into winners.
They bring in actual talent and Rivers was able show his true abilities. Amazing what KG and Ray Allen can do for you. Now he's universally accepted as one of the 2 or 3 best coaches in the league.
Monty had one good team and we got to the playoffs. When the Pelicans actually have a roster good enough to win, guys like Lance Thomas and Xavier Henry will be distant memories. When Monty's losing games with GOOD teams, then get back to me with the fire him stuff.
Until then, the nonsense and hyperbole people are spewing about what they think they know about Monty as a coach is just ignorant noise.

I guess we should also forget that little storm that blew through around the same time that may have impacted people's lives in such a way that attending a football game wasn't top priority?

I'd give Monty one more year, If next year isn't any better then he has to go.
Exactly.

People in Baton Rouge weren't that horribly affected. I was at those games and Benson's attitude afterward only reminded me why I grew up not liking the Saints. I just hope there aren't any opt-outs in the Hornets lease or he'll be threatening to move the team within 5 years.

Eyeran wins

I understand the point you are trying to make. But Doc Rivers had a bunch 1st round exits with those good Mcgrady led teams in Orlando. He's really isn't regarded as a top coach. He's the definition of underachiever. He will ride the coatails of his championship team and the subsequent talented teams that Ainge put in front of him.
People's problems w Monty doesn't lie in sheer wins and losses. It's how his teams crumble during games they should win. Regardless of who's fault it is, the coach gets the blame. See the Nets with Avery Johnson. Dude won 60 games a year in Dallas and was thought to be a good coach

Wrong. Want to guess the two leading candidates to take over Team USA since Coach K stepped down?

So a young NBA team that gives away games? Interesting
Monty aint blameless, but an inexperienced, thin roster doesn't help
Posted on 3/18/13 at 6:36 pm to corndeaux
When he can't draw up a play without more than one option, yes, that falls on Monty's lap.
Posted on 3/18/13 at 6:44 pm to WB504
Rivers is a players coach riding the wave of 1 title. There's a reason Pop will be the next coach of team USA.
You're entitled to your opinion. The dude constantly chokes with good teams though
