A college player is a lead off batter, most RBIs on the team thru 8 games, 2Ks, does not take on a 3-1 pitch, is taken out of the game to sit after the inning even though the player hit a single and scored 2. Coach says his rule of thumb is on any 3-1 count you will ALWAYS take the pitch. Even if it a clock shot, you take and work it to 3-2 or walk. RISP and 0, 1, or 2 outs do not matter. Instead of treating each batter based on his particular skills, the coach says he has too many free swingers so this is the rule!
He is the coach so I say do what he wants and let the results play out. Sub player strikes out twice. Coach tells starter that you learned your lesson now right?
Please offer your opinion of the strahbugee. Interdasting it is!

Certainly the appropriate board for this.
Anyway listen to your coach.
Anyway listen to your coach.

What the hell is this?
There is no coach in the universe that says this, let alone a college coach.
I think the word you were looking for here is COCK shot.

Unless your coach happens to be Javi or Les Miles.

Temporary rule to instill a little discipline in his hitters? If so, I like that he held his accountability. Early season discipline can be really good for that post season run.

If its a meatball down the middle of the plate, 3-1 or not, you should swing.

By your explanation, it seems to me that you left out the part where the coach told the team, "I don't want anyone swinging at a 3-1 pitch right now."
The only way you'll get any sympathy is if you tell me that the batter was never told at anypoint, practice, pregame, or in between innings to take the pitch.

Why is this on the Rant?

well, it seems to me he made the whole damn thing up. or imagined it. or assumed it. if he's not the actual player or his roommate or brother i'm not buying it.
