Anyone else worried about JJ Abrams directing Star Wars?

He didn't stay true to the mythos of Star Trek at all. No moral dilemma to battle with, no exploration. Horrible job with Bones and Scotty. It was just a straight action movie with a lot of cinematography tricks.
Sure it will be better than 1-3 but still

As of right now, I'll take it. The prequels dropped the bar so low, it'd be hard to frick it up worse.

I guess but people are getting themselves worked up all over again.

As long as it doesn't have flashbacks.

I agree with everything else you wrote, but what was wrong with Bones?
Anyways, I'm not that worried about it because he isn't recreating 4-6 with new actors.

I can't wait to see the overexposure this series is going to get in the coming years/decades.
Disney paid out the nose for this franchise and they're looking to exploit.

Maybe he can do some time travel that would wipe the prequels from my memory.

Yeah but you had to know it would happen. The internet's going to shite on every bit of news so bad until Ep VII hits. If it's good when it finally come's out, then that negative energy will disappear with the quickness but if it is mediocre or sucks, God help Disney.

He just wasn't written well at all. It was like someone wrote what they think they would have had Bones say and just kind of jammed him in there because they had too. very unorganic imo.

Brother, I don't want to beat you up for being asleep at the switch, but I could have used your help last week.

All I'll say is I never had any interest in watching anything Star Trek until JJ.

Ace fought off many haters that day.

It's all right - get ready for a rebirth of that thread (or one like it) when the next one comes out.

Yeah which bodes well for the new SW movies.
Star Wars is an action story with character development accomplished by witty quips (Han Solo) or how they respond to action (just about every other character).
That is JJ Abram's wheel house.
Ace: I just read about 75% of that linked thread and I was laughing my arse off. You hated everything Abrams has ever done going into the new movie and you never gave it a shot. But I digress... maybe the new movie will be more to your liking. The previews have really heightened my interest.

No. He seems better at. "Science adventure/fantasy" which is what Star Wars is and what he made the new Star Trek look like. I'm hoping for a return to the used future look of Star Wars but I'm not holding my breath

Wow...what a great idea...a big company looking to make money! shame on them right?
All I know is that Disney pretty much spares no expense with its endeavors....I am quite happy with these events and cant wait for some more Wars!

Whatever. I stand by - I wanted to like it, I gave it a chance. I looked for Star Trek and couldn't find it. I completely understand people enjoying it who were unfamiliar with TOS. However, I cannot understand fans of TOS who also enjoyed the new movie.
There is little chance the new movie will be "more to" my "liking". I don't like anything Abrams has ever done, ever...ever.
