Anyone know the starting salary of a CPA?

I'm about to start studying for the CPA exam, after having been out of college for 3 years. I have a semester of law school left, so I figured I'd try to go ahead and finally get the CPA exam out of my way before being faced with the Bar exam. Any advice? Motivation?

Sounds like he's headed for a career in tax law.

My sister started at 65 but she's a freak of nature , 4.0 along with every possible resume builder you can think of

Where does she make 65k?
I know a guy who got his Masters in Accounting, along with a CPA, and I believe he started around 80k in 2010, but that was in NYC.

It's a large southeastern firm, she interned with big 4 one year and the regional firm the next. Turned down big 4 with a quickness. She is out of Atlanta, but the firm is not based there.
She got her MAC as well.

Close friend of mine works for one of the big four making 52k, he has his masters as well. He has been at it for a little less than a year and said he will be out of the field with a quickness.

One of my friends finished his masters and started out at KPMG at $47k. He recently passed the CPA exam, so besides bonuses, I don't know how it affected his pay

Me and my wife are both CPAs. Definitely going to depend on where you are working (location wise).
Don't delay doing it.

A lot of it depends on if you did internships or anything while in college. If you are coming fresh out with no experience, anything over 50 is good.

I graduated with a Masters in Accounting, worked in a government job for a little over a year before switching to a smaller CPA firm based out of New Orleans. I still haven't taken CPA exam but I started at $44k and after a year and a half, make over $50k. If you go work for Big 4, you probably start at right around $50k, but I didn't want to go that route. I plan on taking the CPA within the next year, just got to find the motivation to study again.

I just want to point out to you that in Louisiana, you have to work as a CPA for a year to get licensed (some states longer)-just an FYI. I suppose that since you are asking about starting salary that you intend on working as one
Salaries will range a good deal depending on size firm and location. Big 4 will pay $50k+, with larger CPA bonuses than other firms. These salries are pretty flat, meaning if they want you, there is no variance in pay.Regional/Local firms, on the other hand, may vary starting salaries more based on qualifications; but I would say on average, an local/regional firm starting salary would be between $42-50k.
Good Luck

Think that's crazy? My GF is a "staff accountant", whatever that means. She doesn't have a college degree, much less is a CPA, and she just recently started on making mid 80's and gets a 20% bonus every year. Also, she only works around 40 hours/week. She is 27 btw.

Staff accountant in CPA firm without a college degree? That doesn't sound right.
