The one artist/band no longer with us who you would travel in time to see live

Jim Croce for me...died 16 years before I was even born.
Somehow I just got introduced to his music, and he happens to be one of my dad's favorite artists. Great, calm voice from a guy that died too young.

This. But it would be even better if Robbie Robertson didn't show up and someone else sat in on guitar.

If someone offered me the chance to go back to 1978 to see Journey, I would go back, sell my ticket, and invest the money in Microsoft

I've seen The Who, but to seem them in their prime would be fricking awesome. Ditto Allman Brothers w/ Duane. Oh, and Phish circa 1997. And the Meters around 1977.
Cream
Led Zeppelin
Grateful Dead
Pink Floyd
Jimi Hendrix
Queen
You could really just name any relevant classic rock band.

Yep I would give most anything to see Hendrix and the Beatles with a healthy Harrison and Lennon

Definitely Jimi Hendrix.
May sound off-the-wall and I wouldn't actually see the artist perform live, but I wouldn't mind going back to Vienna in the early 19th Century and catching one of the first performances of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

Time traveling is probably best left to time travelers.
Seriously though, The Ninth Symphony is the greatest work of music ever composed.
I only prefaced my post with 'off-the-wall' because I don't see many posts on this board referencing pre-twentieth century music.
