Legit. I have no idea what Tahini is, however.
ETA Still don´t know exactly what Tahini is, but I´m sure it´s been in most versions of hummus which I´ve eaten.

Tahini is a sesame seed paste. It is not "optional" in hummus...it is a main ingredient.

Tahini is sesame paste. It has that distinct (nice) sesame taste.
