Good luck with our Clearinghouse history
What I wrote has nothing to do with the Clearinghouse, although it is relevant to Lawson. I was referring to whether we could back count 2 or 4.

If he is not qualified how is he going to Kentucky. If it were Alabama I could understand because they sweep lots of dirt under the rug academically, do they do the same at Kentucky?

Because he will be qualified. You shouldn't believe everything that Les Miles says.
Posted on 2/8/13 at 5:53 am to Choupique19
Les Miles did NOT say he wouldn't qualify. The staff had serious questions about two courses and didn't want to take the chance of losing that schooly like has happened in the past.

And thats why they offered him the greyshirt if he qualifies, he is in next year even his coach said he was only 95 percent sure he would qualify, under the new rules, unfortunately, not good enough

Lawson cancelled his trip to Kentucky and is headed to LA Tech to visit this weekend
Not true. He got on the plane for Lexington this morning and will visit Kentucky this weekend. He is still considering a trip to Ruston, along with some other offers for his last 2 visits.
More SEC and BCS schools with open spots have come calling since Wednesday.

UK may be willing to take a chance that he is cleared - LSU was not.
UK can take that risk to get a 4 -star caliber player, LSU does not need to take the risk so offered a gray shirt
That's the key. LSU had guys willing to come on board with either less risk...or a much higher upside which made it worth the risk.
Kids who are not in the clear are at risk for being asked to grayshirt. I fully support LSU for that. LSU can't afford to have a spot go to waste unless the reward of getting him on campus is much larger than the risk involved.

Then why did LSU not recognize this last summer. Wouldn't you think that LSU was right on top of his transcript and helped to guide Lawson on what classes needed to be taken?
...because it may have been Lawson's best shot of passing the clearinghouse...not a guarantee of passing the clearinghouse.

I think the truth is what another poster stated. Lawson was bumped to make room for yesterday's "boom".
Your problem is you see this as black or white. In your mind either the guy is clearly eligible...or he is clearly ineligible. The reality is that things aren't crystal clear. And, when it came down to all things considered, Lawson's upside didn't compensate for the risk relative to recruits who were willing to come on board by the time signing day came around.
Having said that, LSU is still offering him a scholarship...just a semester late. Some people are acting like they just kicked him to the curb.
His pride is hurt. Posters who are close to him or his high school have their pride hurt. If he chooses another school, he will be gaining a semester in which he very likely will not play anyway...and will spend the rest of his career at that school instead of the school that presumably he wanted to be at more.
I hope he does what is best for him whatever that is. I just hope for his sake that he approaches the decision from a logical point of view rather than an emotional one like yourself.

THIS. People need to chill out. He can just take a semester off and come in during January with a FULL scholarship. Waiting an extra 4 months is totally worth it. A full scholly to Kentucky would end up costing his family way more than if he went to LSU. Especially since he only lives a short drive away from BR. Waiting a semester should not be this big of a deal. Might even be better for him because he could get an extra year just in case.

4 star former 2013 LSU commit Tevin Lawson will no longer visit Kentucky this weekend, instead choosing to visit Louisiana Tech
Tim Buckley ?@TDARaginCajuns
Unsigned ex-LSU DT commit Tevin Lawson was to have visited Kentucky this weekend but instead it will be La. Tech. He already visited UL.

Not a big deal, but these guys are wrong. Tevin thought about canceling his trip to UK, but he already had the plane tickets and decided to make the trip.
La. Tech is still on the radar for an official visit. The trip to Kentucky is only his 3rd so far.
If he takes his time and looks at all his options, he may realize the grayshirt is not that bad an offer.
