In the late 90's one of the most popular centerfielders, MIKE KOERNER. He was followed by another NJ cf whose last name started with a R. Smoke called him the fastest player he hd ever seen. He left his impression in the CF fence after a great catch.
David Raymer, I believe.

Greg "Cookie Man" Cook was from New Rochelle, NJ. I believe we have had some FB players from the Garden State.

We had greatest group of managers under Jeff Boss including but not limited to Randy, Pudge, Marty & Dale, plus an excellent training staff with John Purdy & Doc Anderson directing Murray, Gary & Troy.
Two outstanding people!!!!
Granted, Purdy on a bad day was quite comical. Still loved the guy.

I was there when T-Joe was still there....I did hear horror stories of Doc sending out hurt players as OK.

Were you on the team? A teammate of ours? '80-'83?

Before, he would have been Penn St bound.

The dumbest headline ever: "
Why Tashawn Bower will be LSU's hidden Gem"
I freakin HATE Bleacher Report. Bower ain't hidden, he's a four star, highly recruited DE.

Tiger Russ,
Greg Cooke was a big part of that team which played the Philadelphia Final-Four of Mar'81. Mike Koerner did play baseball for LSU, but ...
I think their original question was about a dearth of NJ football players making it to and surviving LSU. Aside of Tashawn Bower as a multi-star recruit and myself as a walk-on, there have been few NJ-athletes to play football at LSU and only handful more from eastern or central PA including George Atiyah and Jeff Fordham {a teammate of mine}.
