I must not be drinking the Koolaid you guys are who think Cam Cameron will be the answer to all of our offensive problems. The guy has been on a downward spiral since he left San Diego. Is he good? Yes, but is he the god you claim him to be? No.

Who the frick said he was a god?
I suppose compared to Stud he is though.

God? I doubt I ever said anything remotely close to that? Hell I'd be down for an improvement though.

The guy has a great rep as an OC.
Who'd you have in mind available that would stack up and want to come here?

First you made an argument against him drafting Ted Ginn, now people are making him out to be a demi-god. What would you do? Lets ride Stud out for another year and see how that works out.

He don't need to be a god, he just needs to be a little better than the offensive braintrusts the past few years and that ain't difficult. It would be an upgrade.

There are several reasons Cam is a home run hire.
For starters, you can look at his history as a play caller in the NFL. It speaks for itself. That is against NFL Defensive Coordinators every single week, and his offenses were in the top half of the league almost every season. You don't have that kind of success without having a feeling for the flow of a game. To me that is what is sorely lacking right now, other than execution.
Secondly, all of that NFL experience running an offensive scheme, similar to what LSU wants to use, means he knows how to use it effectively. You would see a larger variety of plays run out of the same set. Instead of having what set we are in telegraph the play to the D. You would also most likely see more effective use of misdirection plays (counters, screens, dump passes, etc) and hopefully a larger role for the TE.
Not to mention that he is one of very very few people out there who Miles would see as an equal. They are very close and have coached together. This means leaving the play calling solely in his hands.
Pretty much every single thing everyone has been complaining about. So how is this hire not great?
You can say he is on a downward spiral all you want... that is in the NFL, and even at that level he has a proven track record. He is not just a flash in the pan.
And I don't think there is anyone trying to say he is suddenly going to make LSU the #1 offensive team in the country, but who would? Not to mention the fact we don't need to be the #1 offense in the country.

Our offense has been inconsistent and underperformed on an annual basis since Jimbo left. We have had a coordinating carousel since then and I just don't buy it that Cam Cameron will bring that to an end. I hope I am wrong though because watching our team struggle when we have such a stacked roster frustrates me as much as the next guy.

Just got off the phone with my uncle who is an assistant strength and conditioning coach with Moffit. He said that Cameron has been in BR and at the facilities getting situated. Got to sit down with the QBs and for a meet and greet. Word is that all the players were in the Lawton Room when Cameron came in and opened the door got on the floor and proceeded to walk the dinosaur.

I don't see how he can be worse. The only way it could be is if there is a huge power struggle or chemistry issue between the staff, which is a possibility.
Other than that, the offense would have to improve.

One would think so Roger, but we have been saying for years we have to get better and we have been steadily inconsistent. Again, I hope I eat crow and he works out great, but he has to find his mojo from his Charger days again and then has to be given reign of the offense in order to succeed.

I'm optimistic and think if he and Miles don't class that good things could happen. But, we kind of think it will be different every year.
I think he has a lot of potential here though, will just have to see if it pans out.

I think Cameron has potential too but I am not overly thrilled at the hiring. Especially because it means the end of Krags and or Stud and the recruiting aspect those guys have brought has been amazing. To land Jennings and Rettig after having JJ represent the QB department is damn impressive.

quote:Dude, he's had Bal in post season every year since joining '08, with a Div champ in '11 and he pretty much owns the '12 Div champ, seeing as as Caldwell dropped 2/3 final games he inherited.

Did Cam go up your mom's skirt irl?

You don't think he's necessary in the first place.

Yeah, I think Cameron could have much more impact in recruiting than Krags or Stud ever had.
