Aggressive PED testing.
Thoughts?
Thoughts?

Take the helmets off. Seriously.

No. Nobody forces anyone to play football. If you dont want concussions, don't play.

There is no one answer.

Reduce concussions. Increase skull fractures. Brilliant. Why, do you suppose, did helmet usage develop in the first place? Style?

So instead of a bunch of concussions we'll just have a few people with skull fractures and possibly death
Real smart

Anyone care to inform me as why my suggestion has been completely ignored in favor of no helmets vs better helmets?

I think his point is that as the technology advances to "protect" the head, players feel emboldened to use that technology to hit players.
If players were not wearing helmets, they certainly would not lead with their heads on tackles anymore.
But yet, that's not really practical. My suggestions would be to switch from tackle to flag football. That seems to be where it's heading anyway...

because it would be a negligible reduction in head injuries, and they already test for peds

Exactly. You keep hearing all these players saying "Had they known ..." and "The NFL hid this from us ..."
Yet, you don't see any players quitting today because they're fearful of the long-term effects of head injuries. The players of today HAVE TO KNOW after all these lawsuits. Yet, not one has stepped up and said, "O.K., I'm going to give up my multimillion dollar contract because I'm afraid of the long-term consequences."
And, the players of yesterday wouldn't have done a damn thing differently. Don't get me wrong -- I think they're a lying bunch of scumbags because they ALL KNEW. And, yet, they kept on playing.
In legal parlance it's called ASSUMPTION OF RISK. You want that multimillion dollar contract and the "playa" lifestyle -- there's a price to pay.

Better helmets
Football helmets have gone through a major overhaul the last 5 years or so.
The materials used now are lighter and suppose to protect just as well.
Lighter ... very much so.
Protect just as well... doesn't seem to be.

1) understand there is no solution for the culmination of minor impacts
2) remove 5yd no contact rule, this will disincentivize passing where most of the big hits occur
3) remove qb protection other than traditional roughing the passer, this will further disincentivize passing in general and furthermore will prioritize short passing over downfield passing due to more focus on protecting your own qb
4) widen hashes to collegiate widths, this will create space on the football field allowing receivers wider windows to find openings, of this will also open up scoring in a safer manner and offset the negative offensive consequences of 2 and 3
That's a start

Go back to shite helmets. Once one of those safeties bust his head open hitting a WR, he will learn not to do it again. Problem solved.

Has there ever been a successful PED testing regime? The best is in cycling and it's still very flawed. Testing regimes are by their very nature reactive. You have a better chance of positive outcomes by mitigating the impact of head shots than you do of limiting the growth in speed and size of players

Go back to leather helmets or make the helmet material much softer. With the increase of helmet technology players feel invulnerable and start launching themselves leading with their head. Players wouldn't do this if they had less protection.

Hines Ward came out and said the exact same thing a couple months ago. Players now use the helmets as weapons, but if we revert back to the leather helmets, you would see more textbook tackling and less people using their helmets as missle projections.
