Confused RE: Suarez

So LFC is mad Suarez said he dives and will be dealt with internally?
Did it really take him saying it for them to know it was happening? Suarez admitting to diving is about as shocking as Lance Armstrong admitting he cheated or Richard Simmons admitting he's gay. Well, no shite.
So why now is Liverpool acting like they are taking a stand? If his constant cheating is something that was bothering them why didn't they do something about it earlier?

I don't think Rodgers was upset with Suarez for diving. I think he was upset at him for saying things he shouldn't to the media. It's not Suarez's job to apologize for referee making calls or not making calls.

Well for beginners, diving isn't cheating. Match-fixing is cheating.
Gary Neville expresses this fantastically:
And the club had to say something. It's just a PR statement.

But the supposed cheating, the diving, the lack of sportsmanship? For me, it hardly merits the discussion time we give it. I haven’t got a problem with the handball against Mansfield other than that it was a poor decision that went against a non-League club and might have cost them a much-needed replay. But I’ve never heard the word cheat used so cheaply as in recent weeks by former players and pundits. Cheating, for me, is doping, cheating is match-fixing, despicable actions which undermine the whole essence of sport.

A handball or a foul on a player bearing down on goal is part of the game. It’s covered in the rules. You take your penalty — be it a sending-off or a free-kick — and get on with the game. Everyone in sport knows that. It’s a harsh environment, where not everything turns out fairly, just as in everyday life. What happened against Mansfield was an injustice. But it wasn’t cheating.

Purposely doing something against the rules is cheating, that's it.

No doubt... Chelsea's #9 has been booked more times for simulation this year than Luis...
Great win...
Great win...

I agree with this.

That's such a loose definition when applied to sport. Nearly every illegal act would be considered cheating.

Then I guess every single offensive lineman in American football who holds, regardless of whether or not a flag is thrown, is also a cheat.

And again, Luis hasn't really gone down easily since maybe when? October??

Yeah. All those fouls for hard tackles.... fricking cheaters... Gimme a fricking break..

He expresses his opinion. Many believe it is cheating. Even if it's not "cheating" it certainly fits this description...

...and I'm not sure how anyone could argue otherwise.

And every base runner in baseball running along the inside of the base path is cheating as well. Lets face it, Suarez has dived, no one is refuting that, but he has IMO cleaned up his game and does not go down nearly as easily.

That's fine and dandy if every foul, handball or dive was called correctly... turns out they aren't.
Every player that does it is trying to do it without causing the penalty or card etc. All I'm hearing is the fans making excuses for their clubs

Anyways, I'm not sure why we keep having this discussion. We already know some of us are okay with cheating and others aren't, nothing's changed

I hear you but I never hear you complain about the cheat Cazorla... it's always Suarez...
I actually admire him for admitting it... I just wish we had more players on our team that played with the intensity and desire he does every game..

How about when Cazorla does it?

You haven't been paying attention then. I (and most of the other prominent gooners on the board) call out ANY player who dives.. go back and check the match threads/arsenal threads if you don't believe it.

Fair enough... I'm looking forward to watching the little cheater tomorrow morning...

Indeed, super sunday.
Hopefully Arsenal puts up a fight this week instead of rolling over, and then I get to watch my dad anguish over Tots not playing Dempsey enough while they lose to United... And then NFL conference championships
Now if only I didn't have a shite load of webassign due.

Although I generally like Arsenal, I really want that 4th spot... I wont go so far as to say I will pull for the blue pukes, though...
