re: Why Do People Go to the Movies if All They Are Going to Do Is Talk?

I don't mind it if I go see a scary movie, it's how most people deal with being scared. Any other time is unacceptable. Maybe a comedy, maybe. But if it's Django, Gangster Squad, etc. keep your fricking mouth shut.

I saw Django Friday night at a really nice theatre that does food/drinks at your seat. Well the dumb counts behind me got wasted and started talking nonstop. Then one proceeds to somehow sling two wine glasses and a plate onto the ground, shattering them all. They just laughed and walked out before the movie is over.
I may or may not have hoped that they got a DUI when driving home.

People are horrible, that's why.

You sound like my 5 year old. I mean that in a good way. She got upset at the grownups obviously drunk and carrying on during Frankenweenie, then the kids who actually started farting and laughing at Life of Pi, then when I took her to Wreck it Ralph she had enough. It was 20 minutes before the preview. We sit down and a black and white chick are jabbering non-stop about nothing, so she turns and tells them to be quiet.
One of them tells her the movie hasn't started yet. Didn't matter, they didn't say another word the entire movie.

I had "aw hell naw" girl walk into a half empty theater before and sit right next to me and my buddy (with probably 100 other options available with entire sections empty)- right when the movie started. The movie had just started. I hate this, so we moved over a seat to leave a seat open between us. She stands up and in full shouting volume yells at me, "you don't want me sitting next to you because I'm black!" Granted, it's already embarrassing, but add in the fact the movie is playing and distracting the entire theater.
I'm with you. Don't those people (not a racist remark, those types of people) have one lick of politeness and/or concern for others?

I wish some a-hole would tell me to put my phone up during a movie.
Gives me a new IRL trolling idea. Sit next to random people in empty theaters

You going to beat some arse in the theater, bro?

This is one reason, I wait for most movies to come out on DVD. I have a good TV and sound system. Concessions are better and cheaper. While there are a few movies that I will still go to the theater to see, it is generally cheaper and less annoying to buy the DVD and watch it at home.

I was at Les Mis a few weeks back and the gay couple next to me literally sang the entire "Master of the House" song, I was about to lose it.

I went and told on a dude during TDKR because he was laying down, across 4-5 seats, fricking sleeping and snoring loud as hell. I guess he was cold too because he was using the curtain that covers the wall up for a blanket. Damndest thing I've ever seen.
WTF?!

I try but for blockbusters like Batman and The Avengers I can't wait. Plus, you will most likely have the ending spoiled thanks to social media.

My biggest pet peeve is people that bring young children to adult movies.
Went and saw 21 Jump Street when it was in theaters, and the 5 year old behind me loudly repeated every vulgar joke. Never once heard her parents tell her to shut up.

I went to a movie with the wife where a couple in their early 50's were didling each other the entire time. I'd rather talking.

No longer going to midnight premieres since they're now social events.
Went to see Skyfall on New Year's Eve, during the LSU game, thinking that we'd have an empty theater. Guy sits two rows behind us and has a conversation throughout the movie. Get to the dramatic end: He announces his displeasure with the plot while the audience is supposed to be soaking in the emotion of the moment.

I haven't been to a midnight premiere since King Kong and don't plan on going to any except the Star Wars sequels.

Pretty shocking, since the gays tend to be the most well behaved group in the theater usually.

Some family brought a 5 year old to Django Unchained. The kid was quiet, but its still distracting on wanting to know what the frick this kid's parents were thinking taking him to a Tarantino movie.

Well he did say he was watching a musical.
But I cannot stand people who talk loudly in general where everyone has to hear their conversations. I don't care what you have to say. People know how to talk quietly. They just don't want to because they like the attention whether it be positive or negative.
Like someone else said, they must not care about blowing their money.
