Yes, Robert handled very diplomatically. I think Carson was handling it very well too. I hope it doesn't come back to bite Mr. Bates in the but because now Thomas is his superior.
Watch out O'Brien!

Carson's conversation with Thomas was hilarious. He worked the word "revolting" in there with great frequency and vigor.

It was a good episode. Nice to see Lord Grantham and the son in law get along there at the end.

Agreed, Robert needed a redeeming moment, he really has been through the ringer this year. Absolutely no support on most of his ideas/rules/whatever the word I'm looking for here.
A guy that that really needed a redeeming moment was Mosley. I thought this was it, I honestly thought there was going to be a bottom of the 9th knock it out the park moment for ol Mosley. But it was terribly tragic. Swing and a miss and on his knees "I'm old." That was tuff, even his dad dogged him. Poor Mosley.
I'm still so pisse at that m'fer who dropped that spoiler I can barely see straight while watching these last episodes. That was the most frustrating/aggravating post that I've seen since I've been on TD. I didn't just want the banhammer. I wanted him to walk the plank and when he went over he feel and was hanged on the way down and while he was on the noose a guillotine came and chopped his head off but he stayed alive. Then I just cut his eyelids off and keep taking pictures of him.
I guess the ban will have to do.

I know people rave about this show but I just cant watch that shite.

The discussion between Carson and Thomas was very interesting. I was wondering if they would be able to pull it off without a lot of uproar. Many folks always try to impose 21st century thinking on period pieces like this.

I just finished the DVD set for the 3rd season. It will be interesting see Rose, that tasmanian devil, pushing the boundaries of propriety at Downton.
But WTF?? They didn't have to end it like that. Not at all, not at all. frick that.
I will keep watching, though. This is a great show, regardless of the complaints of soap-opera similarities and whatnot. The writing, acting, and direction is wonderful...except for the last 2 minutes. frick that shite.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS:
I see Branson becoming the driving force behind Downton, now. I'm glad they got rid of that gold-digging housekeeper...that relationship would have ruined it for me. One of the best things about this show is their avoidance of sexual romps between the "upstairs and downstairs." That would have lowered the show to the American standards of mediocrity and vulgarity that mouth-breathers expect and like.

Better be careful. Some people might consider those comments as spoilers.
