2013 LSU QB position problem

We have 5 QBs on the roster this year:
Bolden (JR transfer)DNP
Arant (RS Fr) DNP
Kragthorpe (Fr transfer) DNP
Mett (Jr), Played in every game & possession minus blowout at the end at North Texas & Idaho, and when Mett got pulled for one series against Ole Miss.
River (Fr), Played in 3 games with 2 pass attempts
Randall(Fr). DNP
Plus next year you have Jennings and Rettig coming in for a total of 7 QBs scheduled to be here in 2013.
I believe we will see at least 2 transfer out now.
But 7 QBs on the roster next year is just ridiculous. When the second string QB Rivers is relegated to playing only in 3 games this year where he was allowed to throw two passes it tells the other QBs to pack up and move on to another school because they aren't playing QB at LSU.
LSU should have no more than 4 QBs on the roster at any given time under the Miles regime because any more than that and LSU is wasting time for many of these kids who are gifted QBs who would flourish at another school.
Now if the QB Coach leaves then Steve Kragthorpe is gone but you still have Rivers & Randall who need to make decisions about their future. It is unfair to these kids.

You realize Arant and Kragthorpe are walk ons right?
Posted on 1/4/13 at 2:09 pm to MrLSU
I literally had never heard of Arant before this post

u realize arant and kragthorpe will never see the field unless LSU is winning by 50 and also, randall is transferring too

This is a terrible post. 2 are walk ons, 2 graduate after next year.

Doesn't matter if they are walk-ons or not. You still have 7 guys playing that position in 2013 right now.
You have another 4 star Dual-threat QB in Jennings coming in who is the 5th best QB in the QB ratings and Hayden Rettig who is a 4 star Pro-style QB and tied with Jennings as the 5th best QB in the HS ratings.
The addition of both Rettig and Jennings is strange enough by itself because they play two totally opposite styles.

No they don't. You're trolling hard or an idiot.

WTF does it matter? If the kids come here as a walkon they know they aren't gonna play. Nobody is putting a gun to anyone's head to come here.

Dual-threat style and Pro-style QBs are two totally different offensive schemes where I come from.

Mett and Bolden are gone after next year, Kragthorpe and Aarnt are fricking walk-ons, Randall and Rivers will be juniors while Rettig and Jennings will be RS freshman. All will have plenty of time to play when their time comes.

the talk is that Jennings is more pro-style with mobility than dual threat.
surely you knew that, since you knew about the Arafat kid.

Have you ever watched their tape, at all? Once? Jennings is not a typical dual threat QB. He has pretty refined passing skills, and chooses to pass over running most of the time. Rettig is a true pocket passer who
(I think) is a little better at passing than Jennings. He can't scramble as well (or at all, really), but he is capable of moving around in or near the pocket and can escape/roll out much better than Mett.
They play very similarly. It is not a JJ/JL type thing where one couldn't hit 4 skyscrapers lined up with a pass and the other has his feet glued to the pocket and his eyes glued to his target.
Overly descriptive. TL;dr they're similar guys. Rettig is a slightly better passer with little to no scramble ability, Jennings can scramble when needed but chooses not to often.

He's listed as Dual on Rivals only. 247 and ESPN have him as a pocket passer.
Besides that, watch his damn tape. He's a calm, collected pocket passer that has better than average speed when a play breaks down.

Uh, yes it does. Walk ons dont really matter. We play like 3 walk ons out of the 35 or so we have. They arent counting towards 85 scholarship players.

We will have 5 scholarship QBs next year between Mett, Bolden, Rivers, Rettig and Jennings. That's perfectly fine considering Mett/Bolden are seniors.

No, it's not, we need QBs badly and they are both very good QBs. Jennings is not a dual-threat really, he's a pass first pro style QB with good mobility. That's an oversight by some recruiting services.

What is even the point of this thread? What would make you feel better? To play the fricking walkons? Jesus baseball can't get here soon enough
