This is a bad football team and a mediocre franchise.

This franchise got lucky with Brees and Payton. Thank the Lord they did. I'm thankful for that.
But, other than getting lucky with these two great men, this franchise has never had all of the pieces needed to win playoff games consistently in the NFL. This has been a mediocre franchise, overall, in its long history.
Do the Saints have what it takes to turn it around in 2013?
Based on what we have seen all year and especially today, you have to doubt that the Saints are going to be good enough to make it to the SB in 2013. The defense is epically bad. No offense in the NFL is good enough to overcome the D.
This front office has had years to do something to improve the D. It's only gotten worse.
As of today, the Saints Defense could not be any worse if they were selected by and coached by Atl Falcons coaches and fans.
I don't expect the D to be a whole lot better in 2013. It's not realistic to expect years of bad defense to suddenly become good in one offseason, when all it has done over the years is get worse.
Payton knows nothing about building a roster on Defense, and neither does Loomis. Nobody in the Saints FO knows how to build a D roster, and, that's why the FO needs to hire a Consultant to aid Payton and Loomis in building a D roster.
This franchise is not winning another SB if they stick with the current group of idiots whose job it is to build a Defense and a roster for a Defense.

You kind of have to win playoff games consistently if you win a SB.

The Saints Defense is not bouncing back from anything next year. They have been bad for years.
My hope is that they can rise to be average next year. However, I doubt that they can do that. The FO has no idea how to build a winning D.

Know how I know you're stupid?

Except in 2009 when we won the SB. And 2010 when our defense carried our shite offense to the playoffs and finished 4th in the NFL. And in 2011 when it was good enough to win 13 regular season games and a playoff game, finished 13th in the NFL in points per game, and played well enough to get to the NFCCG if the offense doesn't turn the ball over 5 times.

I mean over the course of about a decade or so, Cap.
I'm not talking about winning it all one year and then looking like this garbage only three years later. That's not how good NFL franchises roll, and the Saints are NOT one of the "good" franchises. It's a mediocre record overall with a bright spot in 2009.

Our offense has easily been as big an issue. More consistency on offense, better play calling, more time of possession, 2nd year in system should equal better overall play.

Exactly, but this guy thinks we should be following the model of a franchise that hasn't won a playoff game since 2004

Truly.
Truly. Truly.
DATTY-worthy.

I'm talking about a franchise that can sustain a solid decade of excellence. THAT is what a superior NFL franchise does.
When the Saints do that, I'll change my opinion.

Only way Saints ever win games is for Brees to play lights out. Been like this for years. With 2009 as a exception. I don't expect nothing more but the same ol same ol. Brees throwing 75% of time and defense giving ip big play after big play.

a 2nd year in system is fine, but not with the majority of the players they have on defense right now or else it will be just more of the same.

So in 6 years we were 45 seconds from 3 nfc title game appearances and have won a super bowl.
Seriously frick your pussy arse thread.

Exactly correct, and this is the basis for my thesis in this thread. I've closely observed NFL football for quite a long time. When you analyze what the Saints have done OBJECTIVELY, it's exactly as you describe.
The FO has shown NO ability to put ALL of the pieces in place to build a franchise that will consistently win playoff game, after playoff game, over the course of a decade.
Now, of course, the Saints offense is outstanding. No argument there. But a superior franchise has the "Know-How" to put ALL of the pieces in place. Clearly, THIS franchise FO does not know how to build a Defense.

30ppg and 400 yards every week. Offense's fault for not being all time great...
Welcome to the NFL where your offense shouldn't have to score 8 million points to win. 30ppg should get the job done without a carnival show on defense.
