I hunted in MS for 7 years and never saw a green jeans.
I am hoping I never see one because in LA, they are all over

no doubt, they are like gnats out there
funny story:
me and a buddy drove to hwy 24 to make a phone call up on a hill, we were both drinking. 7 game wardens came around the curve and nearly hit my buddy standing in the road (they were coming from lake mary). they figured we were spotlighting deer. they drug me out of the truck and searched the car. my buddy had a loaded AR-15 laying in the backseat that he forgot about. that night could have been a lot worse than it was. Thanks Eli!

Well I got a ticket a few years back, so they do exist!

Did you buy the license? If so, does it read:
NR 7 DAY ALL GAME HUNTING
or
NR 7 DAY ALL GAME
NR 7 DAY ALL GAME HUNTING
or
NR 7 DAY ALL GAME

They give deer hunters a much tougher time around where I hunt. I've turkey hunted the SW part of the state my whole life and the only time I've been checked was a few years ago when I turned onto a road before daylight and there was a green jeans there to warn people they were going to be burning in the area that morning. Even then it was more of a "well since you're here I have to ask to see your license" type of deal.

Mississippi Statute with Penalties
$50 fine is definitely nonsense. Sounds like an awesome attorney...

the only problem I have ever had with GJ.. was with 2 YOUNG federal agents... YEARS ago... when they failed at busting early woodie shooters they stumbled onto me at a nearby convenience store..
I had 4 mallards, 2 woodies and a hoodie....they wanted to write me up for over the limit..
I urged them to call their boss on the phone before writing me up...
was one of the first hunts I brought lil choupique on..

Does Mississippi have the quality of deer to warrant that price for a week?
Yes. Like others have said, just gotta be in the right place. It seems like it gets better every year, too. It's crazy what has happened in the last 10 or 15 years for the average hunter here.
As far as the game warden discussion goes. I've hunted here all my life, and have been questioned one time. I had a gun under my back seat, loaded, but in a case. The guy said it was considered road hunting, but I got out of it because some dudes came along that had some marijuana in the truck, so I just got a warning.

Didn't they put some antler requirements in place a few years ago? I assume that will help, or is helping, also.
I'm not a resident so it doesn't matter, but I wish they would require tag validation. It would help the turkey population on the public land I hunt.

I let you hunt on one of my FIL's many properties in Mississippi. Ranges from tylertown-woodville-north Jackson areas. At a cool $130 fee you can take your pick but you're on your own bc I'm he wont know about it.

My fam has land in a remote area in MS. I've seen GJ once in 20+ yrs. However, that one time I'm glad I had a license because they had a road block and I had a deer in the vehicle. I wouldve been screwed.

out of state residents cant take does out of the national forest. you can shoot them on private land.

Your alternative is hunting without a license... Would not recommend.

Area 1,2 has to be either 10" wide or a main beam at least 13".
Area 3 has to be 12" wide and 15" main beam I think.

Non-Resident Regulations
A non-resident may not kill antlerless deer except on lands he owns or on lands where he leases the hunting or fishing rights

It's robbery... I've lived in Memphis, TN for over 5 years... Have a TN tag on my car but a MS driver's license... I hunt in Panola, Tallahatchie and Issaqueana counties and need the instate hunting license... Paid a grand total of $36 for both a Sportman's license and duck stamps as a MS resident

I fish the hell out of L.M and rarely ever get checked. Usually only time we get checked is we have a boat full of people.
Not sure how many green jeans work the Wilkinson, Amite, Adams area but that's a lot of rural area and hunters to cover. When a friend calls and ask if I wanna go help him check hog traps or make an evenin hunt and shoot a few hogs I aint paying all that money.
