The Silent Scream

10. Ryan Anderson Threat Level
I could do an entire post on the creative ways Monty Williams gets Ryan Anderson open looks in the half-court, but this is more fun. Anderson is now the league's premier long-range bomber, tossing up a ridiculous eight 3s per game and making a just-as-ridiculous 43.5 percent of them. Teams are absolutely terrified of leaving him open; Ray Allen may be the only player who inspires the same level of fear even before the ball has reached his hands.
The best is in semi-transition, when defenses are scrambling to find the right matchups and Anderson is sprinting to an open spot somewhere behind the 3-point arc. There is a wonderful slice of time when the defense — coaches, players, trainers, fans behind the bench, people watching on TV — all realize where the ball is about to be passed, and that it is too late to do anything about it. It is the NBA's new silent scream.

This guy is the definition of a steal. He's the only reason we're not losing by 30 points every night

Very true. He has surpassed all my expectations and I had a lot. Imagine what he could do if he actually had anyone taking pressure off of him..

He should have had the ball in his hand at the end of the Portland game instead of Vasquez. He needs almost no room at all to get a shot off and he can make it from anywhere on the court.
Anderson should definitely be an all star IMO. If Gordon can ever come back we should be a really good team.

My issue is we draw up way more plays for guards than trying to get Ryno open.

He did. He had people all over him and he had to pass it to Vasquez. If I remember correctly.
But yeah, Ryno is the ultimate steal. He has been freaking awesome.
If he had Gordon taking pressure off of him, and if Rivers continues to develop, not only will he be awesome, but the middle of the floor will completely open up for Davis.

IIRC, Vasuquez received the in-bound pass and took it straight to the goal.

Until this team gets more threats you're not going to get Anderson open for a game winning shot. He should be used as a decoy to free up someone...like Lance Thomas under the basket

Would be nice to get these two on the floor with Unibrow...I think we've been waiting to see this since the ping pong balls came up in the Pelicans favor

It was inbounded to Anderson, who had no shot.

Then I don't recall correctly I suppose. I was watching off and on, sorry about that...

Great read.
It's amazing that his %s have gone up despite being on a worse team. He is the only true offensive threat on this team, defenses know it, and he still gets his shots and points every night. I thought he would be best as a 2nd or 3rd option, but he is making a convincing argument to be a number 1 scoring option right now.
Not sure it will or should happen, but if he developed just one go to post move, he becomes an almost impossible matchup. 6'9" or 6'10" defender comfortable from the block to the arc is very very rare.

Its not technically a post move. But, when they clear out a side for him, he's oddly good at driving baseline, spinning back to the lane and then using an up and under to put up the rock. It surprises me every time, because he seems to be moving in slow-mo, but he's so effective with it.
