Terrible price
Its somewhat common to find 223/556 for 0.50/rd or under now.

Late to the party. Looking at buying an AR now that they are starting to hit shelves again. Price range up to 1500. leaning towards the Daniel Defense DDM4 V5. Would this be a good fit for first AR. Have several Ar style 22's but looking for the real thing will put plenty of rounds through it.
Or is there a better option for the price. Don't want to put one together just yet. Any suggestions?

Daniel Defense makes great AR's. Not sure about their price, but others will know. Colt makes a quality AR also, my Walmart had one the other day with Magpul furniture for $999.99.

Daniel Defense is among the best. Best customer service in the biz, although you wont be dealing with them.
You pay about 350 extra for the Colt name on a Colt

I has one. I like it. I will put it up against just about any other AR out there.

Alright, finally ready to purchase some shite.
So looking at stripped lowers, are they all basically the same? Anyone have any recommendations of what brands to use? Will be getting a lower, lower parts kit, obviously eventually an upper and all that jazz.
So anyone know if anyone has any decent deals on anything in stock?
much appreciated

Really just depends on what you're wanting/willing to spend. Not all lowers are created equal, but for the most part you can get a milspec forged 7075 lower for around 100 bucks, and it goes up from there. PSA, aero precision are amongst some of the more readily available, quality options. If you're into aesthetics there are billet options that are typically at least twice as much, but definitely dress up the build significantly.

Are there any shops in the New Orleans area that carry AR parts? I'm sure there are, but typically when I'm looking at gun shite I'm at a hunting store, never really been to any gun specific shops.
Figure if I can find somewhere that has a few different ones in stock I'll be able understand better what the differences in lowers are.

Don't spend more than $100 on one. People are funny about aesthetics, but when it comes down to it all the lower does is house some parts (I wouldn't mess around with polymer).
