Obviously you haven't followed LSU ball very closely.
If following LSU basketball closely means I'm supposed to think Andrew Del Piero is an NBA draft pick, then I don't want to follow LSU Basketball closely.
quote:
Coach Brady brought us to the final four in '06. And don't say a word about him being lucky to have that group of guys together.
The two are not mutually exclusive. An extremely talented group of players, all basically the same age and from the same area, carried that team to the final 4. Period, end of story.
quote:
Brady had better recruiting classes every year at LSU.
Louisiana, and Baton Rouge in particular, had an abundance of talent while Brady was the coach here that simply did not exist while Johnson was the coach. There was actually a year where Eddie Ludwig was the best senior in Louisiana.
The ONLY thing Brady gets credit for over Johnson is maintaining a good relationship with Collis Temple, allowing him to sign many of the in state kids he wanted. Maybe if Johnson had done that, Langston Galloway and Brian Williams don't leave. Although I'm not sure that would've overcome Galloway''s connection to St. joes. There are still MANY recruits that left the state instead f playing for Brady, like DJ Augustin. And then you have guys like Tweety Carter and Lacedarius Dunn that he didn't even bother contacting. And for gods sake, he didn't sign a single player, not one, after taking a team to he final 4. How is that even possible?
Arguing who was the better recruiter between Brady and Johnson is like arguing the smartest kid with down-syndrome. They were both terrible, nothing more nothing less.
quote:
Aaron Dotson and Matt Derenbecker were Johnson's 2 best recruits, other than JOB III and guess what?
What does that even mean other than O'Bryant? Did he recruit him or not? And who got Justin Hamilton here if Johnson didn't? What about Anthony Hickey? Malik Morgan?
Speaking of Hickey, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that Johnson did something else Brady couldn't: Sign a true pg.
quote:
They BOTH quit on TJ.
Dotson left to be closer to his ailing mother as I recall, and Derenbecker was removed from school by his equally crazy father for off the court issues. Go ask Dayton fans what they think of those 2.
quote:
And please, give me an example of players who hated playing for Brady? please?
Do I really have to go through and list the mass exodus of players that left the team while he was the coach? After all as you just proved, that's your criteria for proving a player hates a coach.
quote:
I feel the same about you, if you actually do follow LSU ball, you must be stupid
You said Andrew Del Piero was an NBA draft pick big guy. Other posters that have argued against me in his thread have called you out on it. Just let all that simmer for a moment.
quote:
Coach TJ drove the program straight into the ground big guy.
O'Bryant and Hickey are here because of Johnson. Coleman was coming even if Johnson was still here. Stringer was here because of Johnson. Morgan signed while Johnson was here. That's 5 of the top 6 players on this years team, a team that you are heaping tons of praise on already. Explain that one, big guy.

Not really Brady was a much better recruiter mostly because he actually acknowledged the existence of Texas.
quote:
Coleman was coming even if Johnson was still here.
Would he have even offered Coleman? He's not a 4 year guy.

I'm not wasting time arguing you down on this one.
I said POTENTIAL NBA draft pick, that means there is a possibility, open your eyes
And no, John Brady was a large part of the final four run.
Anyway, the eye test shows how pathetic Coach Johnson was. At least Bradyball had an opportunity to do something special. Same with JJ. TJ just wasn't good enough bru
And o yea, why didn't we get Gathers from Riverside??? Didn't he say something like "Coach Johnson didn't show much interest in me"?

You mean you know you're absolutely wrong, and you hope ignoring that fact means nobody else will notice.

Until the draft happens, every person on the planet that's 1 year removed from high school is a potential, possible draft pick. Don't attempt to hide your stupidity behind the word potential.
quote:
And no, John Brady was a large part of the final four run.
The fact that a year later, the same team that made the final 4 minus 2 players and plus no one(you know, because Brady failed to sign 1 single player after going to the final 4), failed to even make the NIT, proves otherwise.
quote:
O yea? What about Jaime Lloreda? Magnum Rolle? Regis Koundja?
What about them? What roles did those guys play on successful teams?
Oh wait, this is about OOS recruiting right? What about Aaron Dotson? Ralston Tuner? Johnny O'Bryant?

So ONCE AGAIN, explain how Johnson took essentially the same team Brady had the year before that didn't make the NIT and made the +14 in the win column, +7 in conference, and brought them to the second round of the tournament.

No, I mean I have more important things to do than trying to prove to you, or anyone else for that matter that I'm right.

This is obviously a case of a team starting over fresh and having something to fight for. It happens nearly every time a new coach starts over with another team, history has proven it.

“It’s a shame because when Ricardo was a sophomore and junior, Trent spent a lot of time here,” Byrd said. “This is not a two-month process. It’s been going on since he’s been a sophomore. It’s not like he didn’t lift a finger. He’d put so much time in (prior to this season), I’m sure he had to feel good about their position. I think it’s just he was trying to focus on his (LSU) team. ”
Byrd said he only recalled Johnson attending one Riverside game this season, but said the LSU coach was much more of a regular in seasons past. In recent months, Byrd said LSU assistant Brent Scott — who’d built a close relationship with Gathers through the years — handled most of the recruiting.
Johnson watched Riverside beat Scotlandville last month."
______________
Greg Gathers, Ricardo’s older brother, said the decision to attend Baylor was based more on what the Bears could offer than what LSU could not.
“I don’t know what was said exactly,” Greg Gathers said of his brother’s comments, “but it came off wrong. All he was doing was just speaking his mind. He’s not a bad kid. He has a 3.5 grade-point average. He’s never been in trouble or anything.”
Riverside Coach Says Johnson Kept LSU in the Mix for Gathers
Anything else you'd like to be wrong about tonight?
Posted on 12/13/12 at 11:04 pm to Open Your Eyes
Ultimately who cares how much he saw him, he missed on him that's all that matters.
Posted on 12/13/12 at 11:08 pm to Open Your Eyes
Anyone who follows LSU ball knows this.
I don't care how many games he attended blah blah blah... He didn't do what he had to do to sign Gathers.. Johnny Jones would have swayed him this way, almost no doubt in my mind.

Wow, you just keep sinking to new lows. I'd LOVE if you could go find me an example of another team, in any sport, that fired its coach mid-season, played noticeably better after they fired him, then returned basically the same team the year after and improved by so much it's hard to even quantify it. Oh, and I almost forgot: the coach that was fired has to be better than the new coach that took them to such great success. This should be very easy, you know since history has proven it.
And while you're doing that i'll even play along:
Why would they possibly want to start over fresh and fight for Trent Johnson instead of John Brady when, according to you, they hated Johnson, didn't hate Brady, and Brady was the superior coach?

Your statement that I was responding to clearly has to do with Johnson supposedly not going to see Gathers. Essentially, you're saying gathers was to Trent Johnson as tweety carter and Lacedarius Dunn were to John Brady. When in fact, it's more like what DJ Augustin was to John Brady.

Do me a favor big guy. Quote me on where I said anything about Johnson being a better recruiter than Jones.

Uh, really? Well here ya go:
1) Cowboys, Jason Garrett
2) Auburn football, Gene Chizik
3) Knicks, Mike Woodson last year
Those are just a couple off the top of my head... I'll edit the post with more if you want me to
And dude, did you even watch LSU at all under Trent Johnson? At one point Chris Beattie was starting in 2010 I think. Chris friggin Beattie.
And Eddie Ludwig, enough said about that

Funny, you seem to have left a sentence off of the part that was quoted. It's not surprising; you've demonstrated throughout the thread that you will just flat out ignore things you were wrong about and hope nobody else notices. Here, I'll post it for you again:
Oh, and I almost forgot: the coach that was fired has to be better than the new coach that took them to such great success. This should be very easy, you know since history has proven it.
You "forgot" to reply to the second question in the post also. Why did the players want to play for Johnson but not Brady?
And oh, btw. Tubberville wasn't fired mid-season, and nobody replaced Garrett after he took over for Wade Phillips or Woodson after D'Antoni. So youre 0/3 off the top of your head, might want to get that thing looked at.
Chris Beattie, Ben Voogd. Eddie Ludwig, Alex Farrer. What do I win?

Oh really? Show me where I'm confused. And be sure to use full, exact quotes. None of this leaving parts out or putting words in my mouth you've been trying.

what is it with you and quotes?
Also, Derenbecker hardly plays at Dayton, Dotson hardly plays at Utah... Awesome recruits TJ!
