there are still a couple spots but its not flooded timber and you need a boat to get there. if you do go in a boat be careful there are alot of logs in the bayou!

Which bayou? What about that lake that is east of Section 120 road?

definitly a good call to discuss this information in email. About 5 years ago, Sherburne used to be the place to go. It was as if no one knew about the place. You could walk in, find a spot, and get your limit easily on most days. Now with all the new hunters out there and forums like louisiana sportsman and this one, people continue to post their pics an freely tell where they hunt. Now you go, it is almost impossible to walk in to a decent spot because there are so many people out there with their boats and they conveniently launch before 4am which is the legal time for entry on the wma.
Sorry for the rant, but the moral is to keep your hunting spots to yourself or you will end up with new hunters right on top of you or being screwed on hunting your honey hole.

I hunt the land just noth of Sheburne WMA. By this time last year about 1/3 to 1/2 of the land was under wanter and most bayous full. We had a lot more ducks. This year we have almost no water, in fact deer hunting water holes - if you can find them has been quite productive. We still see plenty of wood ducks but, I have been hearing the boys in the rice fileds (with water) wear out the ducks every morning.

I know the area, but really never duck hunted it much. Maybe at the end of the week, I might do a scouting trip.
Now if one of ya'll young men can point me in the right direction.

Well look like I wont be trying it this year. On a good year when there is water how is the timber hunting? A decent number of mallards?
Posted on 12/4/12 at 10:45 am to dpd901
I was out there this past weekend. There is little to no water.

I almost got stuck out there as well while scouting with my go-devil. Good thing I brought my waders with me. I stepped out the boat to push through the mud to turn around and head back to the launch. Sunk about nuts deep in mud in that particular spot. Maybe this rain we're getting today and whats forcasted will help out to access it for the 2nd split.
