Chavis-Has he coached his last game at LSU?

I am starting to feel this way. It would really suck if he left as he is about the best there is as a true DC who calls the shots without any input from the head coach.
I worry about whoever Tennessee hires will come calling. Chavis loves that place (can't blame him) and it would almost be a lock if Cutcliffe is named the coach.
TO CLARIFY: I meant the new head coach at UT would hire him to be the DC at UT. I KNOW THAT HE WILL NOT BE THE HEAD COACH THERE.

Nevermind. UT would have to unload the checkbook on him. Dude makes over a million here.

Would not be surprised if he is offered a head coaching position at Tennessee

Chavis was on that campus for something like 20 years, and they never hired him as the head coach. Why would this time be different?
You think they are going to go from chasing a guy who has been an NFL Super Bowl winning head coach to hiring a guy who has never been a head coach on any level of football?

Your spidey senses are way out of whack!
Or do you have some actual evidence to back this feeling?

He has stated several times that he doesn't want to be a HC

I think he's far better DC now then when he was there before

If he had dreams of being a head coach he would have been one already. Some guys are life long assistance and that is how they want it.

Why would he go back to Tennessee to be a DC? Coaches like winning. How long before Tennessee would be able to compete for a national title?

He's staying. He loves LSU. Said as much.

I read on some website that Cutcliff rejected an early contact for a head coach job and said he was staying at Duke because they gave him a chance and he liked it at Duke. He then got an extention at Duke. He's not going to Tenn..

LSU has one game left, a bowl game so... NO!

First, Chavis is not head coach material. Coordinator and head coach are radically different jobs.
Second, who gives a dang? LSU's defense is elite because of the talent we put there. Sure, co-coordinators screwed it up, but other than that our D has been elite this century, through multiple coordinators and two head coaches. Chavis is very good, but he's not in a class by himself.

Too funny! So you think he likes LSU more than Tennessee? Tennessee where he went to school, played football, and coached for two decades?
