i lost some respect for les today.
Why? Because arkansas offered to make him the highest paid coach in the country?

I find it funny all these people complaining when they have no details on the contract extension or the raise amount.

Go Les! Get every penny you can, my man!
Damn, I love this country...

Saban has two championships in the last 3 years, and is going for #3 out of 4 this year.
But keep touting les record

Now hire a fricking offensive coordinator.
Yeah, he won't.
frick a raise and extension. You regressed since last years blow out of National Championship and now you get a raise?! Sounds a whole lot like America and Obama. Guess I'll just have to live with the changing America.
ETA: I'll still support your goofy, incoherent, yankee arse but how about you bring me another Championship every 5 years.

Not saying he should have left, just saying he didn't deserve a raise.
Exactly.
It's not one extreme or the other like some on here are accusing.
I've always been a Miles supporter. I like what he brings to the program in terms of talent and stability. But to give him a raise after several blunders that cost us at least a shot at a national championship the last two seasons is silly.

Taking out all of the noise about whether you love or hate Miles, his records, his recruiting, etc., I personally don't believe Miles deserves a raise over his current contract just by virtue of the fact that another school offered him more money.
He is extremely well compensated and has performed to that level. If he wins another NC, he will get a raise. I don't think he deserves more at this point.
I understand that sentiment, but Miles, Saban, and the rest of the elite coaches in the country are compensated based on their "market" value. If Arkansas was going to pay him what was reported, then his market value went up. I doubt LSU matched it, but the raise is fine by me.
Choice A) Pay Miles another $500,000/year and maintain the current level of success at LSU
--or--
Choice B) Let Miles walk with only about a 5-10% chance of hiring someone that will maintain his success level, much less supercede it.
I'll take A everytime.

Les milking money out of lsu after having his contract redone just a year ago is bullshite.
Especially when his team underachieved this year and struggled with far less talented teams.
You know how much I like ya', doc...and I hate that this is my first post to you since being essentially permabanned...but this kind of handwrigning does make me smile a bit!

Les struggling with Towson, ole miss and Arkansas and losing to Alabama this year totally deserved a raise.
It's all about his value, not what he has done this year to get a raise. The coaches that make around what Les made this year were Ferentz, Spurrier and Kelly. Those make 4+million are Mack Brown and Stoops. Saban and Meyer pulled in over 5 million.
Like it or not, Les has proven he should be paid with the top tier coaches.

Gets embarrassed by Alabama in New Orleans and loses to them again this season at home meanwhile struggling with Towson, ole miss and Arkansas..
Yeah, give that man a raise.
Yeah, give that man a raise.

I would have preferred that Les not leave but at the same time I did not want him to get a raise. He doesn't deserve it.
I honestly wish he would have gone to Arkansas rather than get more money out of LSU. We would have been very good with Gary Patterson as our HC. Maybe even better.

There is nothing else to tout. In that profession it's W's and L's. Les has a bunch of W's and very few L's. Raise and extension.
