don't always look at this as a purely football decision but more of a business decision. LSU is overflowing with money from the football program. we are at an all time high financially. miles deserves a modest raise based on the high financial success of the LSU FOOTBALL BUSINESS.

normally executives are paid based on some combination of what their piers make plus market conditions. it appears with all the sec coaching vacancies that the market value of coaches has gone up. no matter what the rant thinks, schools are willing to pay more for guys with far less credentials than les. thus, his value has risen so pay him more. too risky to do otherwise

I'm not saying we should get rid of him and my point about turning around a program is not asinoine at all. To be paid more than he is now is just crazy. The OP wants to give him a raise. I just think making more than he does now would be determined by what kind of coach he really is. You pay coaches that can turn around a program that kin d of money not one that barely gets it done with great talent as is.

But bringing in a replacement is the alternative, and that is an EXTREMELY risky alternative. That's the point that you are missing. To bring in a big name replacement, he's probably asking for more than Miles. That guy may very well suck goat balls, as well. With Miles, we have a winner and a known commodity. Ride that horse until it falters.

We've not had a good offensive coordinator in what 6 years? Maybe use the extra money for that. Good lord there are some idiots on here.

You are missing the forest for the trees here. I'd rather get to the national championship game with an ugly offense than light up the field and never win shite like June Jones.

And the cost of hiring a replacement will be higher, as well.

So having a mirror image of bama game last year, beating an extremely good A&M team at their place (bama didnt) and losing to a #4 in the swamp is barely scraping by? Yeah we should have won other games "easier" but also playing 5 ranked teams in a row is now joke.

No raise.

If Arkansas wants to pay him $5M a year to go 8-4 at best (and that would be his best at a place like Arkansas) I say more power to them.

BTW...most Arkansas fans are one of the two:

1) scared shitless that Les could be their new HC

2) think Long is a genius troll by bluffing LSU into giving Miles an undeserved raise

If Miles went to Arky he'd have an SEC title within 5 years

I won't argue with that but I'll add I have 0% confidence in Joe Alleva making a good hire if it becomes necessary.

Not many coaches better than Les. Plus, as you can tell with the coaching change in 05.. This recruiting class will blow up due to the large number of OOS kids. I still think the 05 class was the reason for our down year in 08

This. You people wishing him gone are fools, FOOLS! That's right, i said "you people."

LSU has "played" in 4 NC games in its entire history....Miles has been in 2 of them and these idiots want him gone. It's baffling.

This. I'm curious if people can name a program that has had similar sustained success over an 8 year period, got rid of a coach (for whatever reason)and continued to keep going at that pace, maybe outside of Notre Dame in the 60s and 70s.

I look to Nebrakska in 2003 when 10 wins were no longer good enough, as what could be comparable.

And coming off an SEC championship this past season too.

That's okay most of these idiots said they'd take Holgorsen over Miles and that dude lost 5 straight this season. And these idiots would probably still take him. It's not worth it taking a flashy Head coach to come in to your program.. If he fails, then you are subject to a snowball of failing hires.

Tennessee, Auburn are good examples too. People that are so willing and ready to accept a change in coaching are fools. Plain and simple.

There is waaaay to much money at stake to risk on the immature wishes of some pimply faced ultranegative trolls on the internet.
