It has been well established, if you follow recruiting, that one of the reasons Shep chose LSU is because Miles promised him a shot at QB. He did not get that shot. Now, some people will claim that he did. They will say that he got a few chances in practice and was deemed not able to play QB.

I disagree. My position is that Shep deserved more than a few looks in practice. He also deserved to throw at least one pass during his playing career here. I believe he did not get a real, fair chance of playing QB at LSU. And I do not believe Miles ever intended to give him that real chance. If he meant what he told Shep, he would have done it. He gave JJ four years and waiting to become a decent QB.

Moreover, Miles' judgment that Shep could not play QB for LSU carries absolutely no weight. Miles' judgment on QBs is about as worthy as Sonny Dykes' judgment on defense.

Never understood why, if we have to have that damned speed option in our gameplan, did we not try Shep running it????

FWIW, JJ had a cannon. An inaccurate, horribly wielded cannon that took a long time to load...but a cannon nonetheless.

Everything you said here was stupid.

Might have had a little to do with it but Sheps girlfriend was already a student at LSU and he was coming here from the day LSU offered. That is why he committed so early and never wavered.

He worked out there in the spring and saw that he had no shot of passing up Jefferson and Lee and wanted playing time so he switched positions immediately.

That's dumb. Jai Eugene, Early Doucet and Ruben Randal played QB in high school too. Do they deserve to throw a pass?

No one is saying JJ was a good QB. Least of all me. But if you ever watched RS's high school films or the all star games, you would see he was throwing 30 yarders like 'hail marys'. He was an athlete pure and simple.

This is so damn stupid! Who should have the final say so? You?

Also, check out this LINK. He did play some wild cat his freshman year before committing to other positions.

I agree that WR is not his position and never should have been. He should have been a running back. His rushing numbers at LSU are really good. (58 carries for 570 yards with 5 TDs. 9.8 yards per carry.) He is not a QB and if he would have stayed at QB he would have wasted even more time at LSU.
