LSU - fatigue and lack of motivation

It's hard to get up for Ole Miss. They are irrelevant and yet pesky enough to keep up. It's a bad combination when a team like LSU or A&M is playing to preserve their ranking/season more than anything else.
Our 2nd half defensive performance, though not perfect, was much better because it mattered. Our D is tired and the team isn't motivated right now because of a meandering season with limited possibilities.
I hate sounding a bit negative but I really think this is what it is. I hope Miles does his magic again and fires them up.

LSU has not played well against Ole Miss at home since the days of Dinardo. LSU hasn't won by more than 7 points against them in Tiger Stadium since 1995.

I actually think that what saves us in these "ugly" games is physicality and conditioning. Late in the game, we just seem to beat people down physically and outlast them.

Not disagreeing with any of this. I expected it. Ole miss is always a motivational issue for us, and the entire season for them. Bad combo.

Every year under Les that we're out of the SEC or national championship race, the team(especially defense) plays flat the rest of the way and sometimes drops a game. Look at 08, 09, 10.

Pretty much.

LSU hasn't been motivated since about 10:45 p.m. on Novemeber 3, 2012. Probably still a little tired, too.

I don't think the kids take it quite as hard as we do. Yeah, they're beat up, but so is every other college fb player this time of the year.

depth.
Ole Miss was playing with walk ons in key positions. Depth saved LSU

That was their season. They have nothing to lose and go for it on 4th downs. In a way, LSU plays like that when they fall behind.

Alabama 10-1 after next week 11-1
Georgia 10-1 after next week 11-1
Florida 10-1 after next week hopefully 11-1
LSU 9-2 after next week 10-2
Tex A&M 9-2 after next week 10-2
USCe 9-2 after next week 10-2
No other Conference has anything like this whatsoever.
The SEC beats each other up durig the season and it takes the legs out from under the players. That is why during Bowl time with rest the SEC shows why it is dominate.

Being tired down't make you have terrible fundamentals on defense. We looked bad in the back end the past two weeks.

Remember those ankle weights folks used to fasten to their ankles for conditioning. Looked like our DB's were wearing them most of the first half.
Webbles were constantly running by and past us. Heck, there were four instances I can recall where they had us completely beaten deep where their QB simply overthrew or underthrew the ball in addition to the several he did hit.
I couldn't understand it.
But in Ole Piss's last 3 series other than the 37 yard completion, our D finally played as we reasonably had a right to expect.

that'll have a tendency to happen when you've recruited a team full of players who are National Championship caliber tallents.
As Ego tweeted before the Bama game. "This is the reason we decided to come here."
When you've done all that work to win championships, I'm sure its tough as hell to play out the string and finish the season with the same level of intensity, especially when the team hadn't played a game without the SEC or NCG on the line since like 2009 before the State game.

I think they will be a little more fired up next week for Arky after number 1 and 2 fell last night. Gives them a very legitimate shot for a BCS bowl if they can shine next week.

Nobody gives a shite about old piss on the LSU end. But I know some old piss alums that would give their left kidney to beat LSU. It's the nature of the beast. They get up for the LSU game like it's the BCS championship. LSU treats them like they're SW Oklahoma St.

crowd was never even close to a factor in the game with the exception of a few drives in the second half... no use of the LSU home field advantage never helps either.... regardless we looked flat on Def for a while
