Athens, your observations are correct GD does appear to be of lesser quality all the way around.

And the gasket is MUCH better than the stock BGE.
I've done A LOT of research on all the different ceramic cookers and the GD took the cake for me. I'm 99% done my custom built table. I just need to buy the GD now..
