LSU vs. UGA in 2004

Coming off a national championship season, Nick Saban took his team on the road to play a talented team, a team largely comprised of the same players he had been embarrassed the year before on his march to glory. Early into the ensuing season, this talented team appeared to be still suffering a hangover from the previous year's beatings. Their own fans were grumbling about lackluster performances against overmatched opponents.
This team responded by rising up and walloping Saban's squad before a home crowd that was bloodthirsty and hellbent on revenge. Saban's squad suffered from uncharacteristic mistakes, including mental breakdowns from young players who were thrust into duty to replace departed stars from the previous year's championship team. Meanwhile, the opponent unveiled a new strategy against Saban's aggressive defense. They unleashed a barrage of long passes to jump out to an insurmountable lead in the 1st quarter. The end result was a humbling defeat for Saban.
Will history repeat?

Does this mean Kenny Bell is going to kneel on the 1 yard line?

Lsu is the undisciplined team, not bama.

A Saban-coached team would never lead the NCAA in penalties or have a player kneel one the 1-yd line!

For some reason I just don't see Mett throwing for 5 TD's.
I'm a negative, pussy, coward though.

Diff is saban had one foot out the door that year and the team lost 4 games.

FIFY.
Don't kid yourself about the '04 season. It had nothing to do with Saban half-assing it. The fact is that even good coaches cannot consistently win championships without superior players and a competent QB.

I'm an optimist, but this is not a very good parallel.
LSU has looked a lot more like that 04 Tiger team, while Bama has looked like the 04 Georgia team.

Go back, and check your facts...Saban never lost a game while he coached here. I rarely even remember the fanbase disagreeing with any decisions he ever made.

Replacing Randall with Russell for the last drive of the '04 Auburn game when Randall had just led the team down the field the previous possession was a brilliant coaching decision by Saban.
