I'll be nabbing a copy of this. I knew there was some stuff going on, but wow. That's pretty eye opening.
I actually remember someone posting a video awhile back with Tyrann in a rap video, but no one really thought anything of it then.

Since when is SI the NCAAs whistle blowers?

but the article says
Mathieu has allowed his image to be used on a flyer promoting an event at a local night club, appeared in several promotional videos online and, multiple sources told SI, received benefits at the club that could affect his eligibility
The Mathieu allowed his image part is all an assumption by the writer. He also comments that Freak and Claiborne were on there, both of whom said they either had no knowledge of the party or didn't attend.
Mathieu didn't gain any benefits from anything claimed in the article other than free entrance into a VIP section of a club.
The writer also makes his judgments based of a complaince officer that has "no knowledge of the Mathieu situation"
Basically it's the same thing Alabama was facing in the Menswear case last year. A minor violation with no eligibility at risk.

Just a few months ago, a club used ole miss' snoop brassell on a flyer.

but he was in March at the time of the event. As was Freak Johnson

that's what confuses me about the article. it seems like it should be a positive one and they they try to trash him with weak shite
baytiger my first reaction was disappointment. Then it hit me that we MUST consider the source. A few night club posters and VIP access. It reminds me of the Tattoo scandal that hit Michigan.
Is the article saying he is still doing this shite?
Partying and promoting a Rap group?
Damn I really want to get behind TM7. This is the kind of crap that can cause a team to lose focus. Let's worry about TM7 NEXT YEAR!!!!

No, he got booted because he couldn't count to 3

Nice read but a lot of bullshite in that article.

Kid is promoting a rap/singing group which has nothing to do with football. The people at the club are chicken shite to exploit a situation for another then act like "The LSU Football Team" was complicit in these promotions which were basically intended for a specific sub group (college students who were into Hip-Hop). Unless the NCAA wants to start a shite fire that will have it's stench and it's reverberations affect the entirety of college sports in the form of thousands of lawsuits, then they will leave this type of thing alone. The exploitation of these athletes by the Universities and the NCAA is simply disgusting. To go after what amounts to, the very identity of Black youth for celebrating Hip-Hop Culture in the way that it has been celebrated, marketed, and promoted since it's inception would be disastrous for the NCAA.

Im a fan of Pete Thamel and Im surprised he put his name down as co-author on such crap.. The article doesn't have any idea where it wants to go.. They were obviously not able to get some key interviews or questions answered but had a deadline to meet and threw up an incomplete article with zero direction.

Yep, basically this is the SI writer trying to make something out of nothing which he is clearly doing based on the responses in this thread.

Wow took the words right out of my mouth

What a desperate, overreaching, alarmist piece of journalism. SI should be ashamed.

Here we go... Bleacher Report Headline says " Mathieu got Improper Benefits..."

ok, gotcha..
basically all tyrann has to say is that he didn't even know that his picture was on the flyer and he should be ok, right?
another thing, why are club owners/promoters around here 'ratting' on the players?? are they not LSU fans? you would think they would give the NCAA the run around if they had to, but that don't seem to be the case
