Yup, had too.. can't get the tractor in there because it would tear the line liner, so had to do it the old fashioned way

Why are you/they pro liner? My pond is 4+acres and that seems expensive as hell. Also, are the better than swimming pool liners because they suck?
Up here, the country boy way of getting a pond ready for water retainment is just a simple matter of raising hogs fenced in within the area you intend to hold water. The hogs root around in, wallow in, and just pack the ground naturally. But we have lots of clay in our soil, not sandy loam. Takes at least a year of this sort of thing to get the ground packed, though. I'm sure this wouldn't be practical for a 4 acre pond, but it might be more practical than a liner for 4 acres? I know this works in small pond applications.

Just saw your comments on page two. Appreciate the tips.
My big pond (4 acre one) is on my place that borders Bayou Boeuf. Its the stickest red clay youve ever seen. When I did my dirt work out there, I basically dug one pond down and filled in another, it was covered in fresh dirt. All winter was hell. Anywhere I walked I would end up like 6" taller from the shite sticking to my feet. Obviously that pond holds water well. My other little pond in front of my house is about 1/4 of an acre and it leaks like a sift. I really need to look into a liner for it.
