Did you get behind on your homeowners insurance and wells fargo 'force placed' you?
Nope, never been a day late or a dollar short.

Curious.. Is this an option without a refi? Hell you could refi and still end up back with WF. They bought my loan. Havent had any issues with them thank god but its not like I just asked them to pick up my loan. Would suck to pay closing costs for a refi not gain much other than get away from WF then end up right back with them.

He needs to contact the insurance company and advise of the holdup. They may have to just cancel that check and they'll reissue.
I have contacted the insurance company. They said it is up to Wells Fargo now.
Are you saying they could possibly write another check without Wells Fargo as a payee?

I think he is saying to ask the INS CO to cancel the check and reissue that it probably got lost at WF somewhere.

Not sure. Maybe you could get another mortgage company to buy your mortgage?
I do know that there are some mortgage companies out there that guarantee not to resell your loan. Wish to God I would have gone this route.
You are fricked if you ever have a claim I can promise that.

It's not lost. They know they have it and how much it is.
They just refuse to release my insurance money.
Now all work on my house has stopped because I have come out of pocket for everything.
Wells Fargo has a 8 week old and a 4 year old displaced from their home because they refuse to endorse MY insurance check. Fact.

call them and tell them your attorney will be contacting them and that you want to speak to a manager, then keep escalating it until they produce a check

Been there done that. Get nowhere. They figure their attorneys are better than mine. They don't flinch.
Another thing is I can't find an attorney to even call me back about this. I have contacted several.

No. I was confused about your situation. It thought Wells Fargo somehow lost your payment (which happens not infrequently ins this stuff). I now see that they've got it.
Yeah, your insurance company is not going to get involved then.

I think people are not realy understanding what your issue is. Pretty common situation other than the check being held up by WF for so long.
Posted on 10/11/12 at 3:38 pm to LSUnGA
I've been through a similar situation like this following Gustav with US Bank.... It had to jump through all kinda hoops to get them to release my insurance money.

Tell them your contractor is threatening to put a lien on the house if you don't pay him.
That should get the mortgage holder moving.

Mortgage holder is typically deemed an additional insured on a homeowners policy, and will be an additional payee on any insurance claim proceeds

is your mortgage current?
is the claim more than $10k?

are you near a wells fargo branch? if so, a banker may be able to endorse the check for you.
