Shocked at how much 2001 4Runner is valued

I have a 2001 4Runner Limited with 100,000 miles on it.
I'm about to buy a new car (actually I'm buying an old car from my uncle, just a nicer old car).
KBB says the "Good" value is $9,357 ... I know the 4Runners are kind of cult vehicles because they are known to drive 200k+ ... but wow.
I love the car and it would make a great daily driver for a student or a new driver, but Money boarders, is it realistic for me to ask 9k when I sell this thing next month?

Really?
I have an 07' Tacoma Prerunner TRD with only 33k miles (I drive a company vehicle during the week). I have also added a lift kit and wheels.
This thread has me curious how much it will be worth when I decide to get rid of it now.

That's absurd. You can get a mid 2000's tahoe for less than that.

You won't get that amount...

Ive been happily surprised at how well my 2010 tacoma pre runner has held its value. KBB says its still worth $20k, a depreciation rate of ~10% a year in the years where the depreciation is supposed to be the worst.
BTW, you can partially thank or despise the cash for clunkers program for the high cost of used vehicles today depending on what side of the transaction you are on

I have an 01 tacoma that I bought used for $6000 7 years ago. They're selling on Craigslist for about $5,800

last week dealership wanted to give me 18k for my '08 Tacoma with 75k miles....knowing they will resale for higher and inflate the price of the new car purchase....Toyota's hold value very well.

Cash for Clunkers removed alot of potential used car inventory... sucks to be a student or new driver nowadays.. trying to get that first car on the cheap. Thanks Obama.

Compare that to my neighbor across the street that hit a deer last Friday. Damage estimate $6,700, he said the book value for 2007 Explorer Limited with 105k mileage is only slightly above the repair costs. Needless to say, he isn't having much fun with the insurance company. Then again, if he had been driving a car the deer might have blown through the windshield instead.

You have a $6,000 vehicle on your hands at best. Kellybluebook, NADA, Edmund's, true-market value are all just a "guide". KBB says that new vehicles are worth MSRP however you don't see a single dealership in the United States of America selling vehicles at MSRP.

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

That's what I'm saying, Ford resale value not so hot. He would get some comp for diminished value post-repairs, but still what he would get is 6-7k. OTOH, my 10-yr old Pathfinder in very good condition is worth > $6k, with 75k on it. I will be surprised if the insurer agrees to pay the repairs instead of just paying him out. I would be surprised if the OP got $9k for his truck, but stranger things have happened.

And it depends on the vehicle sometimes.
I had a 1997 2 door Jeep Cherokee 6 cylinder stick shift without four wheel drive for my son. When I went to sell it I listed it and sold at 2.5X KBB. It was a rare Jeep and Jeep cultists coveted it because of the stick and the 6 cylinder. Apparently that engine is a tank.
