My take on it is, any offense that loses its best Olineman +two more Olineman and starting rb is gonna struggle. Miles' offenses haven't always struggled. He ha coached, 4/5 of the top 5 offenses in LSU history, but I bet he will get zero credit for that. He only gets criticism, not credit. Just like last year he wasn't getting much credit for stomping the SEC , pac12 champ, and big east champ. Les isn't perfect, he definitely has problems with the offense but of you aren't gonna give him credit, don't criticize. Miles has kept LSU as a top 5 program.

Yes, but what I wrote wasn't about the offense struggling. It was about what offensive strategy is being utilized. Like Roger said just a second ago, when inexperienced backup linemen are utilized like the starters are then they are being put in a position to fail.

Why do the members on this board get labeled as negatigers or bandwagon fans when they state an opinion based on what is being shown on the field. Just because most of us understand what is going on with our team and our opponents and predict what will happen doesn't mean we don't root for our Tigers. I predicted we would lose Saturday, not because I'm not a fan, it was due to the putrid play of the O-line, lack of WR production and no in game adjustments by our coaching staff. Nonetheless, I was cheering my arse off for my Tigers. If you predict We will win out then cudos to you, but if you are a realist who has accepted the major flaws we have and calls it like you see it, that doesn't make you any less of a fan than anyone else.

Everyone knows Les likes to run the ball. We were doing a great job running behind Faulk( which we've done for 2 years. Faulk goes down and has to move JD ( whom is far better in run blocking than pass blocking)to left t. So with out our best run blocking Olineman we start to pass a little more and all the sudden our receivers ( which had the advantage of cb looking into the backfield for run support)start not catching the ball. So Les is fricked any way he tries. We can't run the ball because we have lost 3 Olineman and our receivers are getting zero separation and barely have any time for a play to develop.
I do admit that for some reason we abandon passing to the middle of the field. I admit that the playcalling is predictable and almost every third down , I could tell what we were running by our formation( if I can ,you know a dc can). I think Les needs an OC Like Chief, but what I don't like is posters saying Les' offense have always sucked, when facts say otherwise. I agree that playcalling is frustrating, but at this point what options do we have. Our receivers are getting locked down by straigh up man cov( when thy do get open they drop it) and teams are stopping our run game with just a normal front seven.
But like I said, any team that loses 3 starting Olineman, starting rb, gimped up fb, is gonna struggle.

You are not addressing the issue. For this game, miles "favorite offense" will not win. Are you saying that if LSU runs into a team that can stop his offense, LSU might as well forfeit because les won't change?

Points per game is not a great metric for offense since defense and special teams can have a great effect on it. In yards per game LSU is consistently bad. The only year since 2007 that we have been better than 50th was 2007, which was also our highest points per game and the only year in the past six that we have had more passing yards than rushing yards.
Last year LSU had high points per game but very low yards per game due to short fields and defensive scoring. Miles offenses are not good. They are average at best, and bad at worst. However the defense is so good that average and even slightly below average is enough to rack up a lot of wins.
The Miles philosophy is feast or famine. If we can run up the middle then we will win, but if we can't then we aren't going to put up any points. If your entire offensive production is reliant on being able to do something that no team can ever guarantee being able to do then you're going to have problems.
And part of the problem with the WRs is that the play calling has no rhythm and the offense is so tepid that they can't develop any comfort with the QB or any confidence. They may see one ball at the beginning of the game and then they won't see another til the second quarter of the next game. If you want them to get comfortable you've got to target them more.
I mean, everyone complains that we can't rely on the WRs to catch so we have to run, but obviously we can't rely on the RBs to get yards either so apparently we should just stop fielding an offense?

No one worships him. We treat him like he is the most successful head coach in LSU history and has won more games than ANY SEC TEAM since being hired.

I'm counting only passing and running TDs. So your argument is wrong
Posted on 10/7/12 at 7:51 pm to Rickdaddy4188
Well I thought we were stacked at RB and who other than Faulk has been out since game 1?

No. I'm saying, yesterday we tried to throw the ball and our receivers were shite.

On LSU's first series, yes, they put together a semblance of what a passing offense is supposed to look like, especially early in a game. Short quick passes. Hitting ware out of the backfield.
For the rest of the game, the pass plays look like they were called by pulling them out of a hat. BTW it's not like every incomplete pass was a dropped ball.

I find it odd that a team that has reached the NC game 3 times in the last 9 seasons, having won 2 of them, would lose one O-lineman and the entire offense goes up in flames. With the commitment and success we had running the ball, I don't see why 5 star O-line recruits wouldn't be in abundance for us. How did we end up with these short WRs. Outside of Josh Reed, who was terrific, our WRs have been big in stature which caused real concerns in the opponents secondary. Our current WRs are feared by no one. Les has dropped the ball in this regard.

Because, unless you're betting, you never predict your team to lose dumbass. There's been far more improbable upsets than the games we play in. How does predicting a loss make you a better fan?

We've lost 4 (at times?) including center being out for criticle snaps, which caused a turnover. We're way weak at OL right now. That's our problem, and it's mostly bad luck or lack of conditioning, or both.

First post here. Long time lurker.
I think it's perfectly fine and healthy to critique after wins and losses. Where it goes wrong is when people go beyond just venting after a loss and it turns into Les Miles bashing.
You can never blame a loss on one thing. Yes, Les Miles' adjustments could've been better, but we were dealing with multiple injuries. The reality is your offense becomes more simplistic with injuries, because you're dealing with players that don't have the repetitions that the starters have. Talented teams, great coaches can take advantage of that.
Nothing has gone according to plan this year, it's been all bad since the national championship game, I believe the easy thing to do is pile on. This is when the team needs fans' support the most. There's no reason to believe that Miles and the coaching staff can't regroup and make a better run at this next year.

Who ever said it makes me or anyone a better fan; I say it doesn't make me any less of a fan. You and others on this board believe just because I or anyone else believe we will lose that means we don't cheer for the Tigers; You are wrong. If you believe being delusional makes you a better fan rock on dude First 3 loss team to win a NC

I critique the game and get frustrated as hell sometimes, but I'm going into that Florida game thinking we have a great shot a beating them. And we did. Plays weren't executed on many occasions, we had some injuries a key time (minter was in the locker room the first time florida scored) Hell, we should have scored on our first drive. We'd be up ten at half.
But we didn't. And that exhausted our defense. We also had some injuries that cost us, and a really bad dropped 50 yd. pass, a bs penalty, etc etc the list goes on.
Do I like the direction we're going? No. Was that 3rd down jump pass, after two timeouts the dumbest play call I've seen in a while. Yes.
All that said, we easily could have come out with a win yesterday. It really wasn't a "longshot" to predict otherwise.
