What a terrible non-conference schedule. How can you prepare a team to play a conference game after one month of shite competition.

Is this the norm up there?

are you J?

OSU has a pretty great run of OOC games since at least 2005 (when they started a home/home with Texas)

They are usually better than that and have one tough game. It looks ridiculous on the years they are all at home. Next year is bad, but they go to Cal. I see that Beamerball is on the schedule in the following years.

B1G teams are going to go the Wisconsin scheduling route now with Nebraska in the conference, plus the championship game.

I'm sure there have been season opening schedules that have been way worse than this. At least all of these teams are FBS opponents. And one is a BCS conference member.

Here is a worse 4 game stretch to start a season:

2011 Florida Gators:

Sat, Sep 3 Florida Atlantic W 41-3
Sat, Sep 10 UAB W 39-0
Sat, Sep 17 Tennessee W 33-23
Sat, Sep 24 @ Kentucky W 48-10

Oregon had Arkansas State, Fresno State, and Tennessee Tech. We had Kansas State and New Mexico drop out of their agreement with us and had to scramble to replace them. Fresno was probably an upgrade from New Mexico.

The previous four years we've had Boise, @Boise, @Tennessee, and @LSU so I don't mind the cupcakes this year, especially since I am not a season ticket holder.

We have home and homes scheduled with OK and V-Tech. UCF and Cal aren't powerhouses by any stretch, but they aren't pushovers.

There has been worse. Hell, OSU scheduled every team in Ohio just a few years ago.

quote:

Sat, Sep 1 Miami (OH) W 56-10

At least they're FBS. In state school that won 10 games in 2010

quote:

Sat, Sep 8 UCF W 31-16

Again, FBS soon to be Big East team that won 11 games including vs. UGA in 2010.

quote:

Sat, Sep 15 California W 35-28

This is a home and home vs a Pac 12 team that's generally respectable. I don't see the knock here.

Sat, Sep 22 UAB 12:00 pm

Not a good team, not likely a competitive game no matter when scheduled. At least it's FBS

You fricking serious?

A) There's plenty worse out there this year
B) That's not even close to the worst OOC schedule OSU has had.

This isn't a very good year to look at such things. All the realignment has caused scheduling conflicts and a lot of teams scrambled at the last minute to fill an open slot or two.

Stupid post is stupid. Ohio State schedules just as many, if not more, home and homes against quality schools. Texas, USC, Miami, Cal, VA Tech, Oklahoma.

It's not like the athletic department knew Miami and Cal were going to fall off after they signed the agreement.

Outside FSU UF's OOC sucks. The whole we play in the SEC argument is shite. Almost all SEC schools have a big OOC game every few yrs. UF plays ULL, Jville St, BGSU and FSU. FSU picked up Savannah St because WVU dropped when the joined the Big 12. That being said, they play in a cupcake conference. I wouldn't be shocked if they are 11-0 when they play UF, only to get beat like a drum when they play a top 5 SEC D.

Those teams aren't terrible - Vanderbilt played Presbyterian. UT played Georgia State. Kentucky plays Samford. LSU just played freaking Idaho. South Carolina plays Wofford.

Oregon is worse...for their first 4 games:

Arkansas State
Fresno State
Tennessee Tech
Arizona

In fact Oregon has probably the easiest first 8 games in the nation:
Arkansas State
Fresno State
Tennessee Tech
Arizona
Wazzu
Washington
Arizona State
Colorado

They literally have 4 practice games and then 2 warm-up games and then two real games.
