First off, there are only a few Breaking Bad episodes that are slow- but not entire seasons, like the Wire.

Besides, the first season of Breaking Bad is only 7 episodes, which is half the time spent on the worst season of the Wire.

Of the first 7 episodes, the pilot won an emmy for best writing, and the last 10 minutes of episode 6 is my favorite moment in television history.

Its a tough fight since HBO allows the wire to do whatever it wants to and breaking bad is restricted. How about this Breaking bad is the best cable network show but the wire is the best show.

I usually value your opinion, but you're way off on this one. Boardwalk Empire?

I love Boardwalk Empire, but there's something electric about Breaking Bad, especially the drama of the past two seasons. It's like a 5 season long epic movie instead of compartmentalized episodes.

I watched the entire first season of Boardwalk Empire, but ran out of adderall.

Fans of The Wire talk about how it takes time and you MUST give it a season to develop, but not so with Breaking Bad. To me, you know you like BB in the first MINUTE of the series.

How does it not grab your attention to see a middle aged white dude in his skivies wielding a gun down a dirt road, while sirens are rapidly approaching?

Besides, the transition scenes, lack of music composition and fading to black, literally makes me fall asleep during the Wire.

this guy is accurate in that season 1 of Boardwalk was slow, but season 2 really took off. If you like mob type stuff.

And i don't want to get it twisted, i like Breaking Bad. But you wont catch me calling it an all time great show, much less the best one ever.

THANK YOU!!! i've been told the 1st and 2nd season are not that great you have to wait til the 3rd which is amazing. that is not the mark of a "greatest show ever"
\

And yet this holds true for Seinfeld as being the best sitcom ever? Double standard.

This past season is better than I thought. There has never been an instance in TV history where I have loved a guy and hated a guy as much as I do Walter White. That's amazing writing.

if you are responding in general ok but if you are responding specifically to me bad analogy as i do not like seinfeld. i get heat on this board all the time for speaking ill of it.

I still rank The Wire as my #1. Breaking Bad is top 5 for sure. I have high hopes for the next few seasons of GoT after reading the books.

I wasn't thrilled with the deviations from the book. I understand budget limitations in going from print to screen but changing the motivations of characters bothered me. It was still great tv, I just hope they can make it all work together.

I came in here to say no, but thankfully The Wire has already been represented. Watched the complete series in a week or two, rewatched it immediately. That good.

Just read your post here.

I actually haven't watched the Wire. I know nothing about it.

BB just isn't for me. I wanted to give it a shot because I know it's well liked here but just couldn't get into it.

@Tiger1242- Warn me the next time you post a pic like that! I was laughing so hard, my drink almost came out my nose!

I agree with you that Seinfeld is overrated. Of course I'm also the only person here who prefers The Office and Spartacus to the Wire or BB.
