I think some of the 'main' characters won't die/have a better chance at not dying until ADoS. Jon, Arya, Tyrion, Dany, Bran, Sansa, etc. no one is safe in these books, but those main POVs will live through TWoW for sure. I was mainly just stating that ol' George loves Tyrion, but it would be interesting if he'll die at all in the books.
I don't think Stoneheart will kill Jaime at the beginning of TWoW. My theory is she's going to use him to facilitate the Red Wedding 2.0 somehow. I think Jaime has a good shot of living through TWoW and then dying in ADoS; I'd love for him to live through to the end but I don't see George letting that happen to Jaime. Now, with Cersei, I think she's living on borrowed time moreso than Jaime. I could easily see her kicking the bucket at the end of TWoW.
Oh, and I definitely think Stoneheart/Cat will be laid to rest sometime in the next 2 books.
Sounds very similar to Varys killing Kevan, but I could see it happening that way; Varys will have nothing to lose by telling the truth to JonCon as he is lays there dying.
I think Littlefinger is a goner, but it's a question of when he'll die, not if. I'm thinking it'll happen at the end of TWoW, or early on in ADoS. Would be awesome if it somehow tied in to how Lysa died, with her revealing some major shite. I think Littlefinger is going to reveal some major shite and Sansa will kill him; she's definitely noticed that she's his weakness and I definitely think Sansa will be Littlefinger's demise.

I don't know. I think Sansa has enough pieces to the puzzle to figure out that Littlefinger lured Ned down to King's Landing to kill him and start a war with the Lannisters. Littlefinger is going to let something slip soon, and Sansa will figure it out.

Agreed. Littlefinger is very calculated but Sansa already knows too much as it is. She knows about how he and Lysa conspired to kill Jon Arryn, which is major. Now with the snow castle scene, I am mixed on whether LF planned it out to make Lysa jealous/despose of her or if he just slipped up; I don't think he planned on killing Lysa so soon at that point in time.

Just finished ADWD, looking forward to being able to read this thread now, although no way i'm going back 465 pages. Buncha nerds.
And non-book readers are referred to as "Hodors"?

Haven't popped in here for a while so had to catch up. Strong work lately crackpotters
About 20 pages back there were a few posts talking about passages to pay close attention to on reread and someone mentioned "High Heart". I'm drawing a complete blank on that. What is High Heart???
Also, loved this part that OML pointed out as one of his most satisfying moments of the series so far. Great post:
Also, OML's post here about a possible epilogue to the series is top notch. Would even love to see a sequel series based around this:
Also, I found this very interesting from GIMP:
Not sure I buy that or understand what purpose it would serve. Robb's arc definitely seemed complete, but that passage is very interesting for sure and a is a good catch by GIMP.
Interesting question by ladytiger as well:
CE Tiger's link of the 12 major plot point for WOW was money!!

Honestly, Janos Slynt's death is probably the most satisfying one yet. Just when you think Jon is about to puss out on the hanging by saying "This isn't right" he says "Edd, fetch me the block". The biggest frick yeah moment for me in the series. Slynt goes out like the spineless coward he really is and Stannis Baratheon gives Jon a fist pump.
I think I may despise Slynt more than Joffrey. Never met someone like Joffrey in my life, but I have met a few Janos Slynts in my day, which makes me despise him all the more.

Honestly, I could see Edmure's son growing up to be a very interesting character. Remember how haunted Rhaegar was by being conceived at the burning of Summerhall? Imagine how haunted a kid who was the product of the Red Wedding would be. If they do an epilogue that is years in the future, he's the person I'd most like to see.
Also, I found this very interesting from GIMP:
quote:
Crackpot theory is that Robb warged into Grey Wind, then into Raynald (his second life as explained during Varymyr Sixskins prologue chapter in DwD) after Grey Wind started getting attacked.
In Jaime's chapter, in FFC, where Edmure finally surrenders Riverrun he asked about what happened to Raynald. One of the Frey's tells Jamie that Raynald was really meek during the Red Wedding ("he gave up his sword without a fight") but as soon as they went after Grey Wing Raynald flipped out and started killing Frey's left and right. Then, after getting shot in the stomach and the shoulder he slipped into the Trident and no one has seen him since.
Not sure I buy that or understand what purpose it would serve. Robb's arc definitely seemed complete, but that passage is very interesting for sure and a is a good catch by GIMP.

Here's another point I've been thinking about as well:
-Howland lives in Greywater Watch, so why didn't he raise Jon? Jon would've flown under the radar, and perhaps not had to be raised a bastard. Was Lyanna and Ned's promise two-fold, in that not only did she want Jon to be protected and his identity remain secret, but also that a Stark (Ned) must raise him as one of his own, alongside his cousins?

The Ghost of High Heart is the little old midget lady that the BwB goes to see during SoS. Arya is with them and she gives Thoros and Beric a bunch of prophecies about Balon dying, the Red Wedding, Arya smelling of death, etc. Some people think she might be a CotF

She's okay, but it was kept secret for a while. It could've been a lot worse but luckily they were able to bring her to the hospital ASAP.

I read the whole series in July and after finishing it, I could list of 150 characters off the back. I could probably list 50 at the most now.
I need to reread.

It's okay; I've only read all 5 books once . I think I'll definitely do a reread once we get confirmation about when TWoW will be released. I.e., if TWoW comes out July 2015, I'll start my reread in January 2015.

The Jaime Lannister dialogue/tone of voice had me cracking up.

I've been rereading, it's been a very enjoyable experience because now I read in between the lines when at first I was reading just to get through the story and was mostly interested in my favorite characters. In so many portions of these last two books does the whole tale just stall out into this long drawn out pause where he info dumps a little. i.e. Brienne's chapters
Sidenote:
Has it been discussed here that Brienne of Tarth is(probably is) a descendent of Duncan the Tall? That's awesome! and it makes good sense.

I'm not sure if it's been discussed on here, but I've seen it discussed a lot on the ASOIAF forums (about Brienne being related to Duncan).
I would say that her chapters are essentially pointless until she gets to the QI and we possibly see The Hound. And some fans have theories that Septon Meribald married Rhaegar and Lyanna.
I plan on doing a reread sometime around when we get a firm confirmation on TWoW release date; who knows how far from now that will be, but I'm thinking George has to have it out no later than 2015 unless he wants D & D to pass him up.
The last 2 books definitely feel slowed paced compared to the first 3, especially ASoS. However, I'm hopeful that TWoW will be like ASoS; but I expect it to be like the last 1/3 of ASoS from beginning to end.
