They should use Bran next season to mostly build up the history and lore of Westeros, particularly in regards to Rhaegar and Lyanna.
As much as I want this to happen, I think it's too soon in the show to explain. Right now Jon just got back to the wall after getting away from Tormund. If they reveal that Jon is a Targaryen/Stark child, it would diminish him becoming Lord Commander in the viewers' eyes imho.
I just want Winds of Winter...

They need to explain it sooner rather than later in the show, at least the tale of the Knight of the Laughing Tree. The Hodors will be pissed when they find out Jon is not actually Ned Stark's bastard and feel it completely came out of left field, which is understandable.

Exactly, and I believe they do that. There really isn't a heck of a lot that happens between the wall and the cave. You could have one scene with Bran per episode and still accomplish a lot:
Scene 1 - They leave the Wall heading north and tell stories to pass the time or possibly around the fire at night. Jojen tells the story of TKOLT. They need to do this as soon as possible to tie in with the revelations that are coming once Bran connects to the Weirwood Web. That's one of the reasons that I hope they actually show that story with Jojen providing a voice over to provide some visual connection between the girl in the story and when Bran sees Lyanna later through the heart tree at Winterfell.
Scene 2 - They meet Coldhands. They probably lead you to believe that he's coming to do them harm, not sure. He's not going to just show up and say "Hi, I'm here to take you to the 3-eyed crow." Probably something similar to what happens when Sam finds them at the Night's Fort and Meera attacks him, but this time Meera loses and Coldhands lets her up, letting them know that he means them no harm.
Scene 3 - Travelling with Coldhands. Jojen starts his decline. They start to notice strange things about Coldhands
Scene 4 - **Varamyr has warged into the wolf. Unlike the book, he dies when the raiding party attacks Castle Black from the South, which happens within the first 2 episodes, possibly the first.***
Varamyr's pack is tracking them and Coldhands goes back to deal with them. While he's gone, the group shares their concerns about whether or not he is a friend. He returns with food, they confront him about why he doesn't appear to be entirely human, and he reveals the truth that he is, in fact, dead (or undead, as the case may be).
Scene 5 - The elk dies, Jojen is growing weaker and all seems very bleak.
Scene 6 - They finally make it to the cave and have to fight their way in. Ends with Bran unconscious and the Hodors are left wondering whether or not the wights got him.
Scene 7 - Bran wakes in the cave. We are introduced to the children of the forest.
Scene 8 - Bloodraven
Scene 9 - Brans first "connection" with the Weirwoods. He sees things from the past and present including his father, Lyanna and Brandon, etc. May also see his uncle Benjen, which would explain why he is on set this year. Benjen may be part of some flashbacks, Bran may glimpse what happened to him or he may even see him alive, who knows. When it comes to visions, I have no idea what the writers will do; that's one area where they have NOT stuck that closely to the books.
I have these listed by scene, not episode. With everything else that's going down, they could probably split this up and have some episodes with no Bran scenes at all. They could do one per episode, but I doubt they will.
The one problem with this is that it leaves nothing for Bran's storyline in season 5. Of course (and here's hoping), once they get Bran tapped in, they can have an entire season where Bran is there to provide foreshadowing and backstory while the other storylines catch up. We can also get that from him talking with Bloodraven.

THIS x 10000000000000000. I think that Jojen and Meera should tell the Knight of the Laughing Tree story as well.

What prologue do you guys think we'll get? I'm hoping for an Axell Florent one to see what's happening at the wall.

Really hoping for a Benjen prologue, where he's in the Lands of Always Winter spying on the Others.

Based on the pattern of the books, aren't we due for a Maester Prologue POV for TWoW, and then book 7 will be a Wall/Night's Watch POV?

I wouldn't take that at face value. Plus Patt wasn't exactly a Maester. We switched from the Watch to a Wilding in Books 3 and 5. I really can't imagine a different temporary POV that wouldn't be towards the Wall.

I know Pate wasn't a Maester persay but it was a Southern POV.
Books 1, 3, 5=Northern
Books 2, 4=Southern
So following that pattern wouldn't 6 be Southern and 7 be Northern??

I don't know what the Southern POV would really be about. Maybe somewhere in the Reach where Euron is invading, but that's the best I can come up with.

George could change it up, but if I'm basing it on the pattern, no clue what prologue would be. Maybe Dany doing something but he's never had a Dany-centric Prologue. And you are right, it does make sense to do a Northern POV. Like maybe the wall falls in the Prologue? But I don't know if that will happen that early. Or maybe it has to with right after Jon's 'death' and what occurs at that point?

Qyburn, maybe Varys? That would be interesting.
How about a POV from the past?

I also be pretty disappointed if the book is named winds of winter and about the south. Especially with all that is happening in the north.

You forget that Prologue and Epilogue characters are 100% guaranteed to die before the chapter is done. I severely doubt Varys will be the prologue character. If the series as a whole has an epilogue, I find him a likely candidate to have that chapter.

No to both more than likely. I thought Coldhands for sure, but it looks like it's a no on that. KotLTT was almost certainly Lyanna. What she did disguised as a man basically caused Robert's Rebellion. (Gave Rhaegar the wood/steal her from Robert/lots of blood)

Ok, been gone for a while and have about 50-60 pgs to catch up on from here, but had to ask...
(Pausing to load crack pipe)
Has it been discussed that Jon, if his body dies from the attack, could Warg into another MotNW? Maybe even one of the attackers a la Varimyr and the spear wife?
Maybe even the giant?
(Eyes rolling back with nostrils trailing smoke...)

why's that? I thought it was posted here that Joseph Mawle is back for season 4.

I used to feel that way, it still could be.
I believe it is one of these 3-
Benjen Stark- (negatives taken from awoiaf)
Negative points for this theory would the voice of Benjen and his incomplete training. The voice break from the vocal pitch of a boy to the deeper pitch of a man typically takes place in mid-to-late adolescence. The voice of a younger Benjen would still sound like a child, far from being powerful or stentorian.
Ashara Dayne-
Negative points of this theory is that there is no confirmation that all Dornishwomen receive military training. The Sand Snakes did receive such training, but they might be atypical for their culture. Ashara could have been raised to act "lady-like". Also the motivation of the storyteller, Meera, would be in question. Other theories read the story as establishing the loyalty of House Reed to House Stark.
Lyana Stark-
Negative points of this theory would be doubts concerning the skill and youth of Lyanna. The existence of swordfighting skills, doesn't confirm the existence of jousting skills. In her fight with the squires, there would be other factors on her side. There is no mention the squires were armed. There was likely an element of surprise at work, when they found themselves under attack. If they recognized their assailant as a noble girl, they may have consciously avoided hurting her. Afraid of risking the wrath of her House. None of these factors would be present on the jousting field. Even if she had actual training, this would be the first real test for her skills. As a novice in the sport, her victory would be far from guaranteed. Lyanna would have logically tried to sound like a man. But the helm would not be enough to produce a powerful, stentorian voice

I don't think it likely.
But the only animal 2phat has shown able to fend off a warging was man.
Hodor = easy prey. Becuz slow or cuz he's a half-giant?
