that plastic JoePa with his hands cupped and near his waist is a really bad idea IMO

Eh...hard for them to NOT feel like that at this point.

Exactly. What are they fans and community supposed to say? Keep kicking us like dogs and treating us like dirt because it makes you feel good even though we didn't rape or cover-up rape?

It's bad enough when everyone is judge and jury on the the people involved with the case but when fanbases around the country now act holier than thou and take pleasure in PSU's fanbase being treated like shite...give me a break.

PSU wasn't the most myopic football only matters fanbase in the country to begin with. And everyone becomes defensive when they feel they're being piled on unfairly.

everyone affiliated with the university is making themselves look bad by speaking about anything other than saying that they are: 1. empathetic towards the victims 2. embarrassed to be affiliated with such a corrupt institution 3. they resolve to do what is right and that includes changing the cult like culture of the ENTIRE COMMUNITY no one has said this crap. Instead they are rallying around some perverted thought that the entire school/community is the victim in this whole thing

I agree with this 100%. Despite how they feel, this is what to say. The Paterno family really needs to shut it...they are making themselves look the worst of all. Just let everything come out on its own.

To add one more thing directly related to the picture. I'm guessing that to most holding this sentiment, the phrase "Penn State" means the football team and only the football team.

In actuality, Penn State,a learning institution, has a much better future today than it did last week.

I agree because if I was in their shoes, I would be pretty pissed. As a non-athlete, I would probably want to transfer myself.

Some people are unwilling to accept the fact that a typical middle-class alum who enjoys his university and the football atmosphere has to see all this go down within the program, and yet still pay the price himself, maybe even literally with that fine looming.

I don't have anything to get over...I am not affiliated. I am just explaining that if I was in their shoes...I would be pissed off.

But yeah, what an astute statement.

no kidding. how about some perspective.

sometimes innocent people have bad things happen to them because of bad people.

kids were abused due to a twisted individual and several other non participatory accomplices.

and unfortunately Johnny "I am Penn State" Smith may have to suffer through a few years of not seeing his team play in a bowl game. boo frickin hoo

I was joking...

BUT, here's something to consider. Should Penn State alumni, particularly recent alumni, sue Penn State in the event that the school loses its accreditation, which would cause the value of their degree to plummet?

In other words, could there be an alumni revolt?

That might be entertaining to watch.

No.

#1) They should stop referencing Joepa every 4 seconds. Instead many continue to pour gas on the "PSU's a cult" bonfire.

#2) Stop playing the victim (I shite you not - some fans on PSU sites are actually comparing themselves to the Sandusky victims today; "Like the victims, we just have to try to move on as best we can" ). If someone sticks a microphone in your face and asks you how you feel about the sanctions, you say "It's a terrible situation for all involved, but we all need to come together to make sure something like this can never happen again", and leave it at that.

There's the problem. How many of those players would have played for Penn State if the world knew what was going on there?

Also...Paterno did this becasue he is a self serving a-hole who thought being the winningest coach in college football was more important than the safety of children.
Yep. I was already starting to really not like the guy the last couple years he coached because you could tell he was just being selfish and wanting that record. I only wish he would still be alive to see the sanctions go down. frick that piece of shite.

I doubt too many would have. That's why I can see why former players are pissed off.

I feel bad for all involved. None of them signed up for this gig, from the molestation victims onward. This all could have, and should have been avoided, but a group of about 4 guys screwed it all up.
