I would suggest the MRE's instead of the other things i've seen pics of, ton of calories and no telling what else the military has added to them. Also contain matches, coffee, creamer, TP and sugar, not to mention the heating bags. Brings me to another item, immodium and a lot of it if you aren't boiling your water. Small candles for starting fire.

MRE's are heavy and bulky though. Just my opinion though

IMO, MRE's are good for the house, camp, someplace you're going to stay at. Not a bag you're carrying around. Maybe just the main meal and some of the extra's, but an MRE itself can weigh over 2 lbs. At 2 a day, 3 days of food is 10-12 pounds. The only good thing there is after you eat, your back is saying thank you for taking that extra weight out.

To all you Bug out bag/prepper experts:
What type of watch if any do you recommend for a bug out bag/prepper type situation? Do ya'll have a fancy arse watch with compass and gps and what not? Recommendations please.
TIA

How long could I keep cliff bars, or any other individually wrapped bars?
They have exp dates on them but I think they'd last a lot longer.

The Cliff bars they have in the chow hall over here expired in October. They're still handing them out, and we're still eating them. I'd say if they're stored somewhere cool then probably 6 months after exp date. If they're in your car, I wouldn't go much past a month.

Excellent idea, thanks.
I would add silver money and or/cash if anyone hasn't yet.
Also, 3 days of meds.

Agree, and its the same with MREs.
The warmer the storage area, the shorter the shelf life.

Probably a good time to bump this thread since we might need it today.

A helpful tip for those that are storing MRE's, stock up on Pepto and/or Immodium as well. My stomach has been killing me for the past 2 weeks since I've started on this MRE diet.

what specific backpack do.you recommend?

I may order two more LBT bags and make the smaller of the two a gigantic bug out bag.
