Incredible episode. Best one in Super, and as good as any I can remember in DBZ.
Ultimate Instinct has been hinted at by Whis since Resurrection F, and Goku is finally learning it. Jiren appears to be using it too, but neither have perfected it.
Jiren has overwhelming power. Notice Belmod said "He will always be more powerful than who he faces", kind of a strange quote. Almost hinting that his power has limitless growth to surpass an opponent.
I remember on Reddit sometime back, a guy said Jiren's aura matches that of individuals from the demon realm from one of the games. That might be why he can't become a GoD, and Belmod is training Toppo to replace him as GoD.

One of the Kai's from the 4 exempt universes said Jiren couldn't attain his power via normal training but the Angel of universe 11 had no idea about Jiren or his power. I wonder if Belmod trains Jiren personally. That would make sense as to how they would have fought and Jiren would have defeated him.

Yes and we know Whis trains Goku. I'm saying that Belmod most likely trains/trained Jiren cause the angel had no idea about Jirens power

I just rewatched it.
There are 3 distinct things going on with Goku. Whis lays it out explicitly.
A) He absorbed the spirit bomb to use as energy for his depleted body.
B) He has finally figured out how to tap into Ultimate Instinct.
C) Whis then says "That's all fine. However, this heat im not so sure about".
We haven't seen the form Goku has in one of the promotional materials. It shows his shirt off, not just torn like in episode 110. Has red mixed in with the silver aura, and large horizontal slash marks in the aura. As well as more silverish hair.
I think the heat everyone referred to, is a new form breaking through, to go along with Ultimate Instinct.
Edit: Also, I don't think Jiren is using Ultimate Instinct after all. All of the gods freaked out when Goke used it as a mortal. If Jiren was using it they would have done the same.

I think this could very well be the case. Everyone has been thinking who and how could anyone be stronger than the beings we have seen so far in Super, specifically the angels, grand priest, Omni king, etc, but a huge untapped, already established world and resource in the DBZ universe is the demon world, we've only ever really seen Dabura.
There is a giant well of material there if they had to use it and Jiren possibly being from there would be a good set up or intro to that world.
I think it's a long shot, but still a possibility. Regardless, I think this arc is LONG from over...like probably still a year of material out there. You know the tournament won't end pretty and something bigger is coming, too much "odd" behavior has already been seen by many for the celestials and gods.
I would also think Goku's recovery will last 5 or 6 episodes and we may not even see the ultra form again for a while...which is a shame, but it also gives it More mystique.
Whatever happens, this episode will be nearly impossible to top. It was epic theater and television that literally broke funimation and crucnhyroll. There are many complaints about Super, and deservedly so in many cases, but the overall story is simply of epic levels.

It really, really did. I especially can't stop watching the second half. But even the moment where Goku started punching Jiren while powering up through his different forms in the first half was just plain awesome.
I love Jiren's character, it's going to make the rest of this arc so much fun. Even with everything going on with Goku, he could barely get through Jiren's defense. Dude is a monster.
Btw, can Ribrianne just fricking go away? Most annoying character in Super by a country mile.

I’m not gonna lie.. I’ve been pretty meh about Goku getting a new transformation. I was not into it at all. Was hoping they’d keep growing Gohan’s potential or just something beyond the new Goku transformation.
HOWEVER, I thought all of that was really cool. I liked how they showed while he was even dodging attacks and such too that Goku was kinda staring at himself like what’s going on here? I just thought it was all executed and done real well.

109 was a great episode. The Japanese episodes have really stepped it up with better music compared to the garbage Japanese episodes for DBZ.
Unfortunately they still had the garbage music for a minute after Goku transformed.
That being said, Faulconer's music will never be touched, but I am happy with the improvement in the Japanese music.
