This. I don't think any one is condoning it but I have seen equally bad or worse things on and off the pitch by footballers. He needs help and I hope he gets it and come's back "hungry" in the right manner.

You know what? frick it. I'm condoning his actions. I hope he bites again. I hope he actually takes a man's life. On the pitch. On TV. I hope children cry.
Luis Suarez till I die. frick everyone.

Ok we're getting borderline meltdown mode.
It's not easy when your best player is a fricking dickhead. MOST pool supporters on this board are actually handling it pretty well, though.
For the most part, impressed .

When you say MOST you mean everyone in this thread except my last post, right?

Bwahahaha! Go Meursault. I know how you feel buddy. Frick this.
@Bob. I honestly believe Suarez isn't a dickhead. I think he just loses his shite on the field sometimes.

No doubt, we should be talking about how does BR get Sturridge to play like a man possessed, week in and week out, like he did today... only has 2 ex teams..
What a beautiful cross by Luis and nice composure to slot it home... Equally beautiful cross the other way for Luis, that Cech maybe should have done better with, but it was point blank...
Do you remember Pelligrini's side with Villareal a few years back with a 4-2-2-2?? I'm not sure if thats not the way to go for us from here on out... maybe next season...
I'm guessing Daniel will play up top the rest of the way...

As a diehard LFC fan, I don't know how to proceed from here on out. There is no precedent for this. He's such a great player who scores so many goals, but such a douchebag when he looses his cool..

I'm going to choose to support him, until he crosses a line I cant support (so far, he's apologized and acknowledged it wasnt acceptable behavior)...
Like I said, we wanted him to stay loyal to us... Least I could do for him, until he proves unworthy...
That line may be today with some supporters, it wasn't for me...

As long as he takes the proper steps to fix his behavior, I can easily forgive.

This. I will go out on a limb and say this, I think Suarez plays football like a kid. When he's on the field he is a 10 year old from the slums of Salto who loves to win. Sometimes this crosses the line and he needs to mend his ways, but I've seen worse people on a football pitch.
Also apparently he changed shirts with Ivanovic after the game.

That's interesting, considering he was scrambling to get in touch with Ivanovic, by phone, to apologize to him. One would think he could have done it when they exchanged shirts. The bottom line is he fricked up and needs to control himself. Could you imagine if Pool was making a title run or CL run and his actions cost his team either? I would love to sit here and talk about how good of a player he is, but until he quits being a douche, the story will always be his actions.

Am I the only one who is seriously questioning my support for the guy? I just don't know anymore. That was so beyond low its just hard to put into words. I can certainly understand you guys still having his back, because although he's a douche, he's our douche. I just don't know if I can do it anymore, though. He was way too out of control today.

No. frick him for doing that. He betrayed the club, the manager, his teammates and, most importantly, the fans. For all of the shite we have defended him on, for him to go and do something like that is pure selfishness. It was like Suarez himself sucker-punched me in the guy the second I saw the replay.
With that said, since the decision is out of my hands, I will support whatever the club decides.

Agreed. Our fan base is renowned for its blind loyalty, but you have to draw the line somewhere. That was tantamount to spitting on the shirt. I'm just beyond disgusted with him.

Well said, John Barnes...
quote:
John Barnez talks sense on Suarez' case "He has to suffer the consequences of his actions - that's all he has to do. "I've heard talk about him not playing for Liverpool again, which I think is ridiculous. I've heard talk about him bringing the good name of Liverpool down, which is also ridiculous - he's brought his own good name down. "If you're saying because of what he's done he should never play for Liverpool again, who should he play for? "Whoever signs him, it's going to reflect badly that they sign a player who Liverpool deem from a moral perspective not good enough. "So Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona... they can sign him? But we can't have him? If you're questioning his moral character, what you're actually saying is that if he can't play for Liverpool he can't play for anyone, which is ridiculous. "The reflection on Liverpool is their response to the actions and their response is right. The response from (managing director) Ian Ayre and the club is 'it's completely unacceptable and we will not accept it'."

Suarez fined by LFC.. It's to go to the Hillsborough Memorial Fund..
Doesn't put him in the shop window, still part of the club..

Pretty much how I feel. One the one hand I want to support the guys who work so hard for our team. But I'm having trouble with the other side of things. How do I justify my support in light of what he's done? In a few years when my kid is paying more attention to soccer on TV and something like this happens, how do I justify Suarez? I find myself thinking a lot more in terms of how I'll talk to my kid about these type of things. Weird how things change so much with kids.
Its not like Ivanovic did something (at least from what I've seen or heard) to justify any kind of Suarez reaction.
I do agree that selling him is not the best idea. But he has to be internally fined, benched (shouldn't be a problem since the FA may provide several game suspension too), given resources for coping, and told straight forward, further actions like this will:
1. Mean immediate suspense from team forever
2. Suspension of weekly wages until such time as sold
3. Sold at next transfer window to whomever the club can get - if he plays in freakin' El Salvador he has no option to block it.
One thing for sure, I was going to get a Suarez jersey next year, but I'll probably pick someone else.

Just got an e-mail from LFC shop this weekend - new home kit to be revealed May 2.
Do I wait until the window starts to settle before buying one? Thinking Agger or maybe Sturridge. Don't think eitehr will leave, but maybe we bring in someone I'm already a bigger fan of.
And, I feel that I will get a tainted (in the way I want) pool of people for this answer, but -
As a 34 year old, am I able to wear my name and number 'Pool jersey around town? I sometimes feel like I'm too old to do so and should only wear it on game days during the actual games (or wherever I will be during the games).
How many of you guys wear them around town at all?
