Posted on 10/7/19 at 11:56 am to AlxTgr
man around PAC I really dont catch many, hell thats probably less than 10 over the last couple yrs
now Hackberry and WC marsh is another story
throw a chartreuse gulp swimming mullet and you'll find em yr around
and YaH i found most of the trout fishing bottom of the main cuts
was throwing a 3/8 jighead with matrix green hornet
find ya some clean moving water, alot of dinks but bigger fish are still deep
buddy was free lining a Vudu shrimp and doing well also

Our weekend in GI was pretty wild. Over the weekend I caught a few reds, a bunch of small white trout, and some specks. But what made it wild was Saturday morning waking up and all our kayaks were gone. The tide over night flooded under the camp almost a foot and my kayak came untied, 3 pulled under the camp floated away, and the other one tied up was on top of the dock. Imagine a group of guys who had way too much fireball the night before walk down at 6 and all our shite was gone Luckily 3 kayaks were across the canal and the last one was 2 canals over. Lesson learned. I guess it was because of a few days of east wind.

They were there but small. I’ve seen good reports from Leeville to PAC so I think the transition is getting going.

im gonna head down sunday morning (once I wake up from what will surely be a headache from LSU winning the night before)
hopefully fish the marsh in between leeville and grand isle sunday evening, then make a plan for monday and tuesday from there
gonna try to target trout but if that doesnt pan out redfish it is

I’m sure there’s some decent trout in catfish. I’d throw topwater to get away from all the dink trout.

Had the day off. Went to the fly shop to get a tip for my wife's rod that my dad wrapped for her. While I was there, they said, "Strawberry is on fire." So pulled the plug on buying groceries and loaded up her kayak on the subaru. Left the house about 10:30 and got to the lake about 12:15, was on the water around 12:30. Fished for about an hour before I was blow off by the wind. Boated half a dozen cutthroat's in that time all between 15-20". Had I fished longer, it would have been my best day ever on that lake.
The water temps were about 55 degrees at the surface. That's the real reason I didn't fight the wind and the waves. Taking a swim at those temps is a recipe for disaster.

Doing some kind of mother ship deal out of pac next week. Never been before. What should I expect? Baits?

I'm a tag along. I know no details as of yet.

Popping Cork / Gulp, Lazyman / Overcast, Tsunami Swim Baits, etc.... Those are some of my favorites.

Don't forget the trusty gold spoon.
I haven't been to PAC in a while but last 2 trips I made recently were down Hwy 23 and Vudu shrimp under cork was getting the most action for me. Reds and trout both were hitting it.

I’ve never done the mothership but talked to Eddie about it a couple times if it’s the same route he heads down towards Lake Chien and fishes the marsh areas to the NE
But after Barry not sure if that’s still a good spot anymore
But reds and specs will be chasing shrimp
I’d find some deep moving cuts, stake out and hold on

So I talked to Matt Carr at FNT and he told me there is a new guy with a boat that is doing motherships. The boat has a 300 on the back and it can run over 50. Matt said when it was wide open it felt sketchy as hell so just warning you! lol
