Definite stages, with more next offseason than this one.
Time will tell.
Also, Benson may have some changes he wants to make, so there are still things in work. It's not like there's an answer that we can find.

Rep also said theyd get lighting like the dome. (Outside)
Sounds like they told you about the same thing they told me.

Not really. I didn't ask at the event. I talked to folks here and there since the lease proposal and at the Lottery watch event.
I think there is a sort of party line and another thread of rumor and speculation, each of which has a percentage of truth.
The reps are fans like us in some cases, and they speculate at times, though theirs takes on an air of truth, even if they are just repeating your own speculation, unknowingly, back to you. They do this from innocence or excitement at times, but some are just showing off etc I would imagine.
The lighting thing was mentioned in my article and I think that's a lock.
I do love hearing all this since it makes my various investigations more effective. Any other rumors anyone?

They need a big giant pic of AD and EG where everybody can see.

No doubt. But I've been dealing with them from day one, and I've gotten pretty good at sorting out the bullshite. Plus some are definitely more knowledgeable than others. I used to have a guy who was absolutely dead on with all of his comments.

Well they're placing a bust of my likeness on the walkway between the Dome and the Arena. I tried to talk them out of it, but, in the end, I had to relent and let them do it.

I agree with all of your comments about reps, VOR. My comments were more directed at folks who lack the experience base to discriminte or even know they aren't all heads on the same hydra.
All the new STH over the past year will get up to speed. In a small city like New Orleans, we could very well have most educated and most 'plugged-in' fanbase in the NBA. Those will be some good times.

The smokers' balcony at the Arena is great pre-game and halftime. Sometimes even post game! Always good people out there, and I don't even smoke. As the state moves towards legalization of medical marijuana, I'm anticipating the atmosphere will be even better. Maybe an upgrade would see a few leather couches being placed up there.

More Ochsner sponsorship along with Zippo and Rooms-to-Go?

I don't have many issues with the arena, but one I do have is the stat sheet. I know they need to make money with their ads, but most other NBA arenas that I have been to has the player stats PERMANENTLY shown. I don't need to see the little dinosaur jumping up and down with "DE-FENSE" written below it. It's funny because the old high school scoreboard we used to have pre-Katrina always had the players on the court's stats up there with the video screen. Now they have TWO screens and just flash it every now and then.
Also, that software they have for the stats sucks. It crashes at least once a game.
I am still not sure how the Champions Square integration will work. It really is kind of a long walk for most people. I'm 29 so it's not a big deal for me, but most people esp. coming from Girod or the "Metairie Superdome parking garage" are just not going to make that long walk.
When Benson first built CS he mentioned a residential tower. I wonder if that's still on the drawing board. Something needs to be done about the old Macy's (building over the tunnel). It's just rotting. I know this the economy may not support it but getting a shitton of residential living around that area can generate support for year-round bars and restaurants. I'm including turning the soon to be gone post office property into my residential neighborhood. in New England they are building "Patriot Place" which is a residential area next to Gillete Stadium.

I have a feeling all of this is subject to change.

From what I understood, it's not so much a continuous tie in from CS to the Arena entrance. It's more a matter of making the Arena entrance like CS.

Patience, grasshopper. It's coming. Seriously, though, all of the former mall is supposedly being redone.

Agreed on CS. To be clear, the LSED runs it. Benson has the tower and messes about with it.
I do think these plans you mention and more are being considered. I think the downtown practice facility talk is all related to this.
NASCAR has some races at tracks that have affiliated condos and the like. This sort of thing can only grow, as I see it.
CS is going to be the key to alot of growth and transformation in the way sports fans consume the product as it develops and that district springs up around it.
In my mind, the end game here is to lower the cost of the next stadium and arena by having the built-in restaurants and shops that are a part of modern facilities as part of a shared district that is financially bound to the stadium. Very slick, if I guess right and it works.

Agree 100% with VOR's comment about patience, the mall, etc.

I am patient with the mall. I just used the same post I guess to talk about what I am not patient with (the continuous player stats).
I also believe an absolute homerun would be a CS entrance from the Hyatt similar to the old N.O. Centre connection. The Hyatt has a lot to offer on Saints gamedays with their restaurant and sleek bars. As it stands now, you need to walk out of the Hyatt then walk all the way to Girod or Poydras then get back in heavy pedestrian traffic on former LaSalle St. to get to CS.... at least 15 minutes (about 3/4 mile walk) whereas a CS-Hyatt connection would eliminate the walk entirely.

Anyone know what's the deal with that alleged tv studio hanging off of Benson Tower? I think it would be awesome if Fox 8 moved there and had CS as their news background. Doubt that will happen, but what exactly will that be for?
Posted on 6/8/12 at 10:34 pm to LePissier
I know nothing of the TV thing.
I do think and hope that the Hyatt plays a big role in the whole pie we're baking. Good call.

I park across the railroad track. If they started utilizing Champions Square I would definitely check it out even though it is out of the way. It about 250 yards away from the entrance. Is that really too far for you people? Walking never killed anybody.

Walk an extra 250 yards every time you get up for a refill. How about on the way to the bathroom. It's about too far, it's about requiring 18k people on some nights to walk an extra 250 yards not making any sense.
I think it's about appearance more than rerouting traffic.

Patently false.
