After ten seasons, you would think these people would come in knowing how to perfectly cook scallops, Beef Wellington, and risotto.
These chefs can hardly boil water.

That was a disaster. No entrees served. And one of these people are going to make $250k a year.

I can already tell that fat bitch from Memphis is gonna make me not wanna watch until she gets kicked off

it is amazing the huge egos all these people have coming into the show and Ramsey destroys them. I thought the one guy was gonna have a heart attack. Pretty sure he will not make it far before the stress making him be carried out on a stretcher.

Not to hijack this tread, but also watched Masterchef tonight. I am not sure if the blind lady really has great chances. Most of the competitions are timed and someone will have to help her find the ingredients every time they go running to the pantry. No other contestants will want to take the extra time to help her, I would guess.

The 22 yr old African-American "executive" chef couldn't do anything right. He must be a cook at Popeye's in DC or something, he absolutely murdered the scallops.

the first thing they always do is chopping an onion and peeling potatoes. it is dangerous trying to make her compete in that. that is why they let her through the trials. win sympothy ratings and not actually have to worry about her making it too far.

She sure knew what she was doing but when it comes to the timed competitions it may get rough for her but I have no doubt that she has skills.

It is going to be a long road for Don. They tried voting him off and he didn't get a chance to do anything!
Also, do all chefs smoke?

it is the only way you get to take a break in the food service industry.

anyone think we should make this Hell's Kitchen/Masterchef season long thread as they are back to back both staring Gordon Ramsey on Fox?

this. i have no idea.
on almost every single fricking season a chef can make it to the top 5 if they can cook risotto, scallops, beef wellington, and lobster spagetti.
plus know the difference between rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, well done, and overcooked.
i'd just practice that for weeks and dominate.
everything else is salads, prep, and garnish which i'm pretty they are taught or given prep material for beforehand

Hell's Kitchen scares me. It scares me that "Executive Chef's" do not know how to cook. This is their trade and they cannot figure out what medium rare is.

Master Chef question:
Suppose the challenge dish is, say, a cheese souffle'.
Suppose these home makers, and hobbyists, and bakers, and self-taught cooks have NEVER cooked a cheese souffle', because it just never came up.
Do these chefs get to look at a recipe? Do they know about the dish the night before? I can't imagine that EVERY contestant knows how to make EVERY dish for those group challenges.
I think they get to look at recipes, because what would you do if you had no idea how to make Pho, or southern style biscuits?

2 shows in and i don't think that they have served any food yet

"Sorry there will be no service tonight, thank you"....I'd be really pissed after sitting there for almost 2 hours without even an appitizer and then have the wimpy guy come tell me that.
These clowns this season probably won't ever complete a service.
