I have always thought and believed that any player of any sport that doesn't love LSU and makes a decision to leave is OK for me. I want players that love this institution and that has a "want" to play for LSU. If not, let them go. We'll move on with those that do.

Jones's career record is 190 wins 146 loses with a 56% winning record. Little above average coach. Coached in the Sunbelt. Gottfried's career record is 302 wins 167 loses with a 64% winning record. Coaches in the ACC. Big difference in conference strength. I still think LSU settled with selecting Jones.
Last 4 seasons for each coach (counting Gottfrieds last 4 at Bama)
Gottfried: 67-48
Jones: 84-46
SOS and conference strength is all relative and meaningless when comparing. Gottfried coached in a harder conference but also should be able to get better talent to Bama than anyone could get to North Texas. The ship was sinking at Bama under Gottfried's watch.
Jones had built N.Texas from the ground up and they were as consistent over the last 6 years as anyone could ask for.

i wonder why a guy that started here would want to get less playing time somewhere else.
I'm not sure he had the speed and ball handling to be a big part of a fast breaking offense. Also sometimes when things haven't gone as expected a change of scenery makes a difference.
Good luck to him and I will pull for NC State if they aren't playing the Tigers.

NC State signed two McDonald's All-Americans this year. Good luck seeing the floor in Raleigh, Ralston.
