Not to watch, but the ratings will fall and it will die

This next little rant could be completely false, so feel free to correct me, but I'm going to make it anyway. I would think Friday night has a significantly lower number of viewers than any other weekday. Fewer viewers mean fewer live views. Nielsen boxes don't take into account DVR playback unless it happens within 24 hrs, I think. It also doesn't take into account folks who watch it via other methods, torrenting, Hulu, etc.

Personally I'm glad they did something rather then leave it where it is to continue to get killed by TBBT until it is inevitably canceled anyway.
Friday is a bad slot but I wouldn't be surprised if Community retains it's current numbers surprisingly well because of its cult status, which would be great for NBC on Fridays because it is such a horribly run network.

Where shows go to die.
I say that this method should be called "Chucking" a show from now on.

shite, this is standard operating procedure anymore for these networks. Before you know it, it'll all be reality shows.

The last couple of episodes of Community have been pretty bad. It was a great show.

Glad to see Grimm getting another season. I like that show.

quote:so, we just need an honest way of recording viewership. I watch all my dvr on Friday night, and that includes Thursday night NBC.

It looks like NBC has had it in for community and pnr for a while now.

I'm not really sure how it all works, but with the boxes now, I don't see why they can't count it as watched the minute it is recorded.

Friday times slot is just awful for any show. NBC had Friday Night Lights, one of my favorite shows ever, on Fridays and it had no chance of gaining a large viewing audience. It was amazing that it lasted as long as it did. But the partnership NBC had with Direct TV helped out the last two seasons.
You'd think they would've realized that the people who would watch a television show about high school football would probably spend their Friday nights watching high school football and not NBC.

The problem with counting DVR box numbers vs live watchers is that the live watchers numbers mean a lot more when it comes to advertising revenue. People that record the shows are typically going to fast forward through the commercials. Large live watcher ratings help raise advertising costs which are the life blood of these television programs. Shows don't really make money off DVR viewers.
